I don't know about that. Bonderman doesn't have Manny Ramirez, David Ortiz, and the rest of the Boston offense. No, offense doesn't have a direct effect on a pitcher's stats (other than W-L), but knowing that you have those bats on your team makes it a hell of a lot easier to go out and pitch.

Basing Matsui or Jeter over Podsednik because of runs scored or RBI's is misleading because it only takes 4 or 5 runs to win with Chicago while it takes about 8 or 9 to guarantee a victory with the Yanks. I'd be curious to see what Bill James has to say about win shares the three players have earned so far this season, but its good to see a more 'classic' ballplayer get the nod... though I think both Jeter and Matsui are good ballplayers.

Podsednik's OPS is pretty lame, however... but I guess something has to be said for the best record in baseball. Wins are what matter in the end.

All this aside I'm happy no one is griping about Oswalt. Congrats to Roy on his first all-star nod.

Wins are important for a team, but not for All-Star voting. All-star games in my opinion are supposed to be the best players at that current time, I don't believe Pods is near that.

He is a good player, but far from a player I would go out of my way to watch.
