with guys like wagner, lidge, hoffman, hermanson, cordero ect for a pen.

that team would dominate, can match up power wise with anyone and the pitching is jus disgusting.

I agree- I'm all for embracing your "American" identity but there are very few actual "Americans" in this country. I think A-Rod is justified in his decision- he is a dual citizen anyway. He is not even close to being a traitor.

How boring would this country be is everybody was exactly the same? My favorite thing about living in the US (NYC especially) is the diversity.

A-Rod playing for the Dominican is not a big deal, he's not a traitor. Flip it around and say a couple from the USA moved overseas and had a child in a foreign country. If that player was of A-Rod's caliber, would we be bitching about him being a traitor to the country he was born in? Also, none of us know how he was raised - how much he was exposed to Dominican culture, etc.

Andruw Jones isn't a US citizen. I'd add Joe Nathan somewhere in your list of relievers. Maybe Hunter could take Jones' spot as a backup to Edmonds. I've got to make sure my Twins are represented.

Which Jones are you talking about for CF? The only one I can think of is Andruw, and he was born in Curacao, so I don't think he's eligible.

What about Garret Anderson to play OF?

I wouldnt mind Hank at the 3B

Jeff Kent doesn't seem seem like a guy that would go based on his age. I guess these teams were based on our best playes at easy POS.

I think you may be suprised on the number of players that don't go then those who actually volunteer to play in the WBC

What else can you say about A-Rod??? Born in the US, grows up in the US, goes to school in the US (I guess Miami is still part of the US), and makes more money than most 3rd world countries, but would rather represent the DR.

Go ahead Mr. Clemens ........ please feel free to fire one upside his head!!!

Why not let Andruw Jones play for the US? He is married to a US citizen and has children who are US citizens. He lives in the Atlanta area full time. Makes just as much sense AH-Rod playing for the DR?

Also, couldn't any of the PR players play for the US since PR is a US territory?

Well, Andruw will probably play for the Netherlands team, since Curacao is a Netherlands' territory.

D'oh, I forgot about Scott Rolen. He'll probably play 3B for us.

i meant chipper, hes obviously a 3b/lf though. the guys i listed are IMO the ideal team. obviously not all of them would be up for it, but the difference between the US and everyone else is while teams like the DR may have enough talent on the top-end to compete. say a star or 2 goes down and their toast, no depth.

and your right trojan, most US players couldnt give 2 sh*ts. they arent from a third world country, they have nothing to prove. why risk getting hurt? its easier to stay home a rest.
