What that article does not show is Manny may be owed $57 million over the next 3 years, he is owed more than $7 million for the remainder of this season and i can't see another team adding that much payroll this late in the season (and it is unlikely the Red Sox will pay any of the remainder of Ramirez' contract, at least not if he is traded during the season). If Ramirez is that unhappy in Boston then try and trade him this winter, right now there is no one out there the Red Sox could get to replace Manny in the middle of their lineup and i doubt they can very far without him.

Re: Manny Ramirez demands a trade
The point that Manny made about avoiding media publicity is moot. He knows the size of his contract. The only teams that can afford him are big market teams. Big market teams will have lots of media coverage. So he's going to be harassed no matter where he's dealt, unless Tampa suddenly triples its payroll.
At this point, I doubt that Manny would be back as a Red Sox, if he's really that unhappy. Though I don't think he'll be dealt during the season. Boston is not sitting in a very comfortable spot in a pennant race.Comment
