I'm not questioning them NOR am I 'influencing' anyone. Bonds at this stage of his career can't bring ANYTHING in a trade so that's obviously out of the question. Sabean has shown us all that he is indeed trying to win NOW by trading multiple prospects for vet help.

It varies from organization to organization; in any case it's the GMs job to put the best team they can on the field given whatever constraints they have, whether it be financial limitations, the owner's wishes oe something else. Yes, clearly Tampa's principle owner is interested in profit, but that doesn't mean that their GM and manager don't want to win or that it isn't their job to put the best team they can on the field. But aside of that, I was addressing the Giants, not the Devil Rays, so I think it's a moot point regardless.

Now if Bonds weren't to bring anything back in a trade then yes it would be stupid to trade him, but not because it would anger the fans, because it would be stupid to give away a potentially valuable commodity for nothing. But if the GM held on to him for the sake of popular opinion and not because it made the Giants a better team then he wouldn't be doing his job.

I agree to a point. I just would like to get rid of his salary. That is why I would trade him. Then they can sign AJ Burnett and some others. I think Bonds is the greatest to ever play, but how his he going to play the outfield.

Do you think the "swelling" is actually the roids having a mix reaction?

I think it has to do with that he is 41 years old. He could be done. It takes longer to heal no matter what shape you are in.
