Nope.
The only OF's the Phillies have added this winter are Aaron Rowand, Peter Bergeron and Josh Kroeger. Bergeron and Kroeger will compete with Shane Victorino for the Phillies backup OF job, the Phills also may add a proven veteran to the mix (Timo Perez, Roger Cedeno).

Pretty much assures that Ruben Sierra will be the Twins' DH.

Rondell White is expected to be the Twins DH but i would expect to see Sierra get a fair amount of playing time should he make the team.

Not sure if this has been posted yet, but Todd Greene backed out of the Padre deal to sign with the Giants with a minor leage deal.

actually it was that the Pads release him (when the signed Piazza) - Greene asked for his release so he could find another opportunity..

The part you didn't mention was they also designated Luke Hudson for assignment. Either they know something that I don't otherwise I don't know why they'd let him go. That kid has good stuff.

When on a transaction page it says, "designated for assignment" what does that mean? Does that mean they were sent down another level in the minors or were they released from the team?

When on a transaction page it says, "designated for assignment" what does that mean? Does that mean they were sent down another level in the minors or were they released from the team?

When a player is designated for assignment the team has 10 days to trade, release or send the player to the minors. The player has to clear waivers before the team can release him or before he can accept a minor league assignment.
