Anybody watching or listening to this press conference?

JWH is basically accepting all responsibility. He seems pretty upset.

You can scratch off Ricciardi's name off the potential new Sox GM list.

rat-face move of LL to not show for the conference.

I'm surprised Henry pulled out LL schlong for enough time to actually speak their with Theo.

              This is horrible, horrible, horrible.

And why was Henry sorry he didn't get a deal done? If this was Theo's choice to walk away, because of personal reasons as he has been saying, then what could Henry have done to persuade Theo to return? (other than the obvious. you should catch where I am heading with this)

Kevin Towers and Gerry Hunsicker are two names being tossed around to replace Theo. It's sad to see Theo go, but it is time to look ahead. I would like to see the Sox hire Hunsicker over Towers.

As for Theo, lets face it, aside from the Yankees, Mets or Angels he will never have the financial flexibility he had in Boston so wherever he winds up it will be interesting to see how he fairs with payroll restraints. He's a good GM so he should be up to the challenge.

I think he's got the smarts to make it any where he goes. In his brief reign as GM he was able to turn around a crappy farm system. Which I'm sure smaller market clubs will value over his FA signings (although he has been able to make some very good signings)

Looks like Hunsicker is going to the D-Rays.

The new owner in T-Bay is geting results!

Hunsicker is a pretty solid GM in my books.

It looks like Luchino and co. overplayed their hand by pushing Theo to sign a deal that was less then he wanted. The Sox might be lucky to get someone off the "scrapheap" so to speak.

I'm guessing they'll at least get permission to speak to Towers--if SD let him interview for other jobs, they'll probably let him interview for the Boston job. If they don't get him, I wonder if they'll promote from within. Of course, I bet they're really kicking themselves for letting Byrnes go to Arizona now.
