Re: Marlins and Rangers rumor
Interesting. Why are the Fish trying so hard to clean house? Yeah, let Burnett go because he obviously doesn't want to be there, but everyone else too? Lowell was a huge disappointment last season. Not sure what a trade to Miami will do to Blalock's numbers. Guess it depends on whether Delgado is staying in the lineup or not.MLB: Cincinnati Reds

NCAA Football: Miami Hurricanes
NHL: Calgary Flames

Hey as long as Loria is running that team/owner, you should have seen this coming for a while. Just never knew when it was going to happen. The DuCross Brothers: Sports Internet Talk Show

It depends what prospect it is. I just know the Mike Lowell will contribute much more this year than he did last year.Comment

heres some espn linkage

also talks about trading Delgado. Loria needs to realize that you have a better chance of getting public funding for a stadium if you dont sell off your best playersComment

Re: Marlins and Rangers rumor
I'd stay away from Hank if I'm the Marlins. His road numbers away from Arlington are brutal.
Last year on the road he hit:
.231/.276/.335
Before that he hit:
.243/.300/.407
Now he would still be good if the Marlins played in a hitters park but they don't.
I love that Red Sox rumour from a Red Sox perspective. Although If I was a Marlins fan I would hate it. I think Lowell will bounce back next season and Beckett shouldn't be dealt. Despite all the hype, I believe Hanley isn't going to be a productive Major Leaguer. The Marlins should be asking for Papelbon, Lester, and Shoppach.Comment

If we can clear space to keep D-Train, and Miguel to long term deals I'm all for it. Esp if Blaylock comes in the fold.President of the Devils Den

Re: Marlins and Rangers rumor
Call me crazy, but I like this trade. The Marlins really dump some salary here, and get some money in return. It might take a little while for Blalock to adjust, but he WOULD be moving from the AL to the NL. Overall, they'd still probably see better production out of him than Lowell. Then you add on the younger, cheaper pitcher, and you've definitely made some room to work with the team.
From the Rangers side of it, they get a good young MLB pitcher NOW, when they need it. They also get a Mike Lowell that might flourish in Arlington. Good trade all around, if you ask me. I hope it gets done. Having trouble understanding why other people don't like this trade? Marlins lose some pitching, but who's to say they don't trade/buy some new pitching in the offseason? especially after this trade opens up their budget a little.Comment

That is exactly how I was looking at it. Dunno why people are so down on it. Gives us more money to make runs at some FA's. Not the high priced ones, but ones that can fit into our team mode, and help now.President of the Devils Den

Re: Marlins and Rangers rumor
Initially I didn't like it either but after seeing this rumor I'd be all over it, Blalock is younger and while his average wasn't great last season he should be able to improve in that department, already has the power and ability to drive in runs, they get a young pitcher who has a lot of potential and payroll flexibility to help resign Willis and Cabrera.
Texas gets Lowell who would benefit a ton moving to a hitter friendly park and a pitcher who is ready now to help them contend.
Good deal for both sides IMO.Favorite Teams:
