Yeah but D-Train doesnt always find a way to be on the IR with blisters. Pavano wanted more money than we could afford. So this time I think they do the right thing and lock D-Train and Miguel up. Btw fan since 93 here too. This is a lil bit different than in the past. Esp if we bring in Blaylock.

Re: Marlins and Rangers rumor
The Marlins seem as if they want to rape every team's farm system. I'd REALLY (I mean REALLY, should have seen me last year) want the O's to get Delgado, but if they want Adam Loewen/Hayden Penn and Chris Ray they can screw off. I don't know why they wouldn't just do Penn, a 20 year old, for Delgado. I mean, as long as they absorb some of the 3/48 he has left on the deal.
Anyway, back to this deal:
I like it a lot for the Rangers. Blalock is wayyyyyyy overrated, Ameriquest makes him much better than he really is. Him moving to such a large park, I wouldn't expect more than .255/25 HR. Lowell I think will get it together, and what's hurting Blalock helps him, moving to such a small ballpark. Beckett is an obvious upgrade for the inept Rangers pitching, but if he gets injured they're screwed.Comment

I don't know, trying to drop down to a $40 Miliion payroll. And Blalock is not that good, he hits in a launching pad, and you know that with the exception of Delgado lefties don't fare to well at Dolphins Stadium.Comment

I'm willing to bet money that John Danks has heard many jokes from his friends when he's toking up.

Without a new ball park, and they won't be getting one for a long time with all the Hurricane damage....something has to be done. Nobody goes to see us, unless we make the WS. Gotta do something.President of the Devils Den

At least it's not a total housecleaning in that they could get some real good prospects in return. It really does feel like what happened to the Expos tho.Comment

Re: Marlins and Rangers rumor
According to Dallas Morning News the Marlins are mauling over a offer from the Rangers in which the deal would be:
Blalock and John Danks or Thomas Diamond for Beckett and Lowell.
Its said that the Marlins will take that deal unless the RedSox offer something better than that.
On a side note because this thread has the Marlins in it I thought I would post this as well from New York Daily News they report that the Mets could land Castillo or LoDuca, while Delgado goes to Baltimore.Last edited by TheTruth916; 11-21-2005, 01:13 PM.The DuCross Brothers: Sports Internet Talk Show

Originally posted by ExtremeGamerIf the Indians would buy a World Series, then fire sale them off for prospects only to win it again 7 years later, I would totally take that. Sucks that they get rid of players, but they have 2 World Series rings in 8 years, I think that's as many or more than even the Yankees in the same time span. Impressive if you ask me.
Seriously. Teams are built for a 4 yr window, and if it closes get out, and start over before its too late.President of the Devils Den

Well the whole thing with upping the payroll was banking on a ballpark that now won't come. The taxpayers in Fla can't help finance or would want to a new ballpark. Esp after the Hurricanes that have ravaged the state the past few years. Jeff won't build a stadium on his own, because if he did he would be using his own money, and hoping beyond hope it would be filled every night. Which even when we have great teams not a ton of people show up. So he would be losing for building it, and ticket sales. I wouldn't want to take that risk either. Just build for the future, and keep some of your younger players ala D-Train and Miguel in the fold for years to come. I see this different from the Expos situation.President of the Devils Den
