    Red Sox/Marlins Potential Trade

    Linkage

Looks like the Rangers are going to lose out on Beckett. I have a feeling Lowell is going to pepper the monster hitting behind some of the bats in the Boston line-up.

Just when people thought Boston was falling apart they go and pull something like this off.

I heard the prospects the Marlins are getting are supposed to be really good.

No Beckett, no Burnett, probably no Delgado, no Lowell, the fire-sale is on.

Loria will gut that team and not give a damn about it like he did the Expos.

        This blows hard

Actually, I dont care as long as we keep Cabrera and Willis, for a long time. If he gets rid of either of those two there will be trouble.

Impressive to say the least. Dontrelle is tough, but I've always liked Beckett better. Dontrelle's mechanics worry me in terms of arm issues down the road.

Agreed. Add to it that Beckett won't have the pressure to be the #1 starter in Boston and Clement can be pushed to a #4 or kept at a #3 position where he seems to thrive.

If this deal goes down it will be fantastic!

Hanley is over-rated. I know scouts loves his tools but last season he was missing the tool box. He's very inconsistant and showed little at the plate.

Losing Sanchez will sting a little bit but Theo and his crew did a great job of rebuilding the farm system. There's a boatload of arms coming through the system (Lester, Hansen, Papelbon, Alvarez, Meredith, Pauley).

Beckett is a fantastic pitcher and one of the best young arms in all of baseball. And we all know what he did in the playoffs. I believe Lowell will bounce back, especially playing at Fenway.

This deal would also eliminate the Red Sox from the Burnett sweepstakes.

The thing that people forget about Beckett, is he will only be 25 years old at the start of next season. Very young with a long career ahead of him.

Dear God, please let Lucchino stay out of this so this deal can go through....PLEASE!!!

Well put Asianflow on Hanley btw, saw him play last year in Portland and he didn't impress me all that much.

Papelbon has been up, and merediths career is over after that little sting the majors he had and got killed.

Hanley is overrated IMO, but i dont like they way the minors got taken apartm ruins team chemistry.

                      Re: Red Sox/Marlins Potential Trade

I love the trade. Beckett is a great, young pitcher who has proved that he can handle October. Also, the Sox could be trading Lowell and cash to the Twins for Kyle Lohse, J.C. Romero and/or Scott Baker. That would be absolutely huge.

It sucks to see Hanley leave. Even though I was getting frustrated watching him not develop, he's still only 21. It also sucks to let go of Sanchez, who has a promising future, but I doubt he accomplishes what Beckett did at his age.

Another positive is that the PTBNL isn't on our 40 man roster. That means it isn't Shoppach who I was worried about when I first saw PTBNL.

                        Oh man.....

I think Beckett will dominate in the AL. I have this feeling tho that Lowell is clearly on the downside of his career. At least he'll have protection in the lineup to help him out.

The good thing? The Jays have one less competitor in the Burnett sweepstakes.

I hope this deal gets finalized. My stomach was upset when the rumor of Beckett to the Rangers first came out. That would have killed my already sub-par keeper league pitching staff. I was having nightmares of one of my pitchers pitching in Arlington.

Yup, I said something in a little more detail in the other Marlin thread...lol. It's his way or nothing. No one wanted to believe what a bad owner Loria was well now another team gets to taste it.
