I say the Padres should just wait out. There's no point to give up Mark Loretta for David Wells and some other guy.

Re: Hoffman Situation Update
The Indians met Monday morning with Rick Thurman, the representative for Trevor Hoffman, and appear ready to sign the free-agent closer to a three-year deal in the $21 million to $24 million range. Hoffman is expected to take a physical for the Indians on Tuesday.Comment

Re: Hoffman Situation Update
The Padres should be giving Hoffman their third offer to him, it'll probably be about the same amount per year. I don't know if they'll go two years or three years.Comment

Re: Hoffman Situation Update
Hmm, I can deal with a 3 year deal if we can get about 2 good postseasons out of him. I just want to see some guys like Andrew Brown get a shot, Howry was great, but I think we have some guys that can at least put up half of his numbers.http://flotn.blogspot.com

Re: Hoffman Situation Update
Well, the Padres have requested a little more time to offer Hoffman a contract that is similar to what the Indians are offering, as the Padres will meet with Hoffman's agent tonight. So Hoffman's decision will not be known until tomorrow.Comment

Re: Hoffman Situation Update
Hoffman has re-signed with the Padres to a two-year contract with a third year option. The Padres offer offered less guaranteed money than the Cleveland Indians. The Mighty 1090 reported this. No links available at the moment.Last edited by BatsareBugs; 12-07-2005, 06:32 PM.Comment
