And I didn't say we would win, but you simply said we won't. We are easily one of the top 5 favorites going into this year barring any huge injuries.
I'm not talking about home runs, I'm talking about extra base hits and his ability to hit line drives the opposite direction while not getting all of the ball with the bat. Everything that made Loretta who he was his first two seasons with the Padres wasn't even noticeable after his injury, he looked like any other scrub that usually signs and goes with the Padres.

*Nevermind, Padres CEO Sandy Alderson has said on the radio that the deal hasn't happened.

**Mark Loretta's agent has confirmed the trade.

That has got to be one of the dumbest trades so far that the Pads have done. So much for Sandy being held in high regard over Towers. Loretta for a backup catcher...not even worth it unless prospects were to be thrown in. But w/e. While the Dodgers and Giants are getting better...the Pads are standing pat and going in the wrong direction

Red Sox officials have said they are looking for another back-up catcher and not Shoppach. Seems kind of stupid to me...

Since Shoppach is the potential successor to Varitek, i'm surprised.

The Red Sox have already tried to package Shoppach off in a deal with Texas for Adrian Gonzalez and the Rockies have inquired about Shoppach, so it's actually not surprising that Sox are looking for another backup Catcher (Todd Pratt or John Flaherty-most likely). They will trade Shoppach at some point either this winter or during the season down the stretch.

I'll miss Doug in a Sox uni but I am glad he has a chance to start in San Diego with Hernandez seemingly off to Baltimore. I think Doug will do good as a starter despite what some angry Pads fans think.
