But every other team in the AL east would have to face manny 19 times, especially in that Park. It comes down to this, would you rather have to face tejeda 19 times and have every other team face manny, or just face manny 19 times.

Re: Tejada wants out of Baltimore
Another rumor, though I have no idea who this Wild Bill character is:
"The word is the Tejada-Ramirez/Clement trade has been agreed to in principle by the two teams blocked only at this time with last minute complications caused by Manny. Assuming these are ironed out the O's will have to make additional moves."
"The Manny extension demand would require the O's to pay an additional $40million over two more years. It all is negotiations and would Manny agree to one more year and/or would the O's do that? Who knows? The O's won't do the two years." -- 1.1.06, Wild Bill, Orioles Hangout CommunityComment

The O's won't trade Markakis, Majewski, Reimold, Olson, Loewen, Penn, or Erbe. Flanagan has said he'd like to stick with the youth and not give them away for older players.Comment

Re: Tejada wants out of Baltimore
Getting Kazmir for the wrong Zambrano was just about the worst thing that could happen to the D-Rays future trading partners, because they think they can add every team's top prospect without giving up their youth. If they added, Marte, that's two top prospects on the left side of the infield and 3-5 future stars in the OF, with the best hitter yet to come in Delmon Young.
Anyway, the length of the Manny saga is making me really anxious, especially with a potential deadline coming up with the Orioles. I think the Sox need to know if Tejada could be their shortstop, because we have 2-3 big deals yet to come that are on hold. It's funny to see how O's fans are reacting to Tejada's trade request, because it's just like us when Manny made his petition. Being on the side that had more time to accept the magnitude of losing one of the best players in baseball, I'd be excited to move on and finalize the deal. If we give some cash, I think it's fairly even, so I'd be shocked (in a good way) if Markakis came to Boston as well. Plus, you can only excite people in this town about failed trades so many times...I like that we're not panicking, but there's not enough options on the table if this falls through to feel entirely comfortable about the offseason.

Re: Tejada wants out of Baltimore
The D-Rays are flat out unreasonable when it comes to trades. They have a ton of young talent, but they'll all be playing elsewhere by the time they are stars.
I still don't see why the Orioles aren't interested in Manny and Clement for Tejada and cash. I know Tejada is probably the best SS in baseball but Manny is one of the best hitters and Clement is a solid #3 starter. If the Red Sox are coming close to making up the difference, that's a pretty good deal for an Orioles team that desperately needs to make a move.Comment

Re: Tejada wants out of Baltimore
Originally posted by camulosDon't even say it. That deal could go down as one of the worst in the history of the franchise. It would essentially mean we'd be giving Edgar Renteria and $11 million for 1 year of Julio Lugo. Ugh. I hope the Red Sox are smart enough to be content with Alex Cora at SS rather than make that trade.Comment

Originally posted by CWood2Officially my worst offseason fear since we acquired Andy. Everything we have in house (Mark Loretta especially, Graff, Cora, Machado, Pedroia) beats the heck out of dealing with TB for Lugo. As far as Tejada coming here instead, I'm just not sure how we can make it happen anymore if Baltimore has officially said no to our proposal.
They haven't officially said no yet but i'm betting it was the Red Sox idea to make the O's include Markakis. And i'm guessing the O's said "HELL NO!" (I would've said the same thing....Markakis is untouchable right now).
Plus, Tejada straight up for Clement/Ramirez is hard to pull off because of the cash that the O's would have to take in.Comment
