    Blockbuster Rumor

This would be such a huge blockbuster trade, I had to post it. I doubt it has any chance of ever happening, but that would be one of the bigger trades in a long time.

The Cubs and Orioles also have engaged in three-way discussions with the Red Sox in which Tejada would go to the Cubs and Ramirez to the Orioles, according to another source. The package the Sox would receive is unclear, but conceivably could include Prior, shortstop Ronny Cedeno and center fielder Corey Patterson.

I think that'd be a great trade for Boston.

Absolutely. It would fill the need in CF, give them a rotation of Schilling, Beckett, Prior, Wakefield and Papelbon and free them up to trade 2 out 3 of Wells, Clement and Arroyo. The only real concern would be Prior's injury history, which i know very little about.

that would definitely be classified as a Blockbuster trade. I wonder if it will happen.

I doubt it will happen, but it would be fun to see ESPN break down this trade.

here's the thing, Prior has only been "hurt" once, the other time was out of his control, a line drive off your arm isn't your body breaking down, it's a freak accident. Now Kerry Wood on the other hand is injury prone, Prior, IMO is not.

If the Cubs trade Prior I will no longer be a Cubs fan. Never trade good pitching for hitting. Good starters are harder to come by then power hitters.

We are talking about the best shortstop in baseball for a guy who cant stay healthy. HMM. And we can get rid of Corey Patterson in the process. Where do I sign.

Now if this trade was proposed 2 years ago I say NO WAY. But since then Prior pitching mentor Tom House has said he used steriods and Mark seems to have lost a little on the old fastball, and hes hurt all the time. Makes me wonder.

I totally agree. No one has enough pitching so why would you ever trade it. Prior had an off year last year and still lead the league in K/9 and was 5th in batting average against. He hasnt been the same as he was in 03, but I think he will bounce back. Phil Rodgers said the Cubs should trade Zambrano for Tejada and I almost feel off my chair.

Tejada is great but you can win a title without tons of offense. It just happened 2 months ago. Also I like Cedeno. Ken Rosenthal said he is tearing up the winter league and if that bum that pretends to be a manager had a clue he would start at SS and stay there until the season ended. Get rid of Walker and put Neifi or Cedeno at 2nd. Bad trade and if it happens I will be waiting for Hendry when he arrives to work.

Dumbest trade I have ever heard.

Cubs trade 3 players and receive a SS?

I dont think this is considered a Blockbuster Rumor. Just a Rumor. CAUSE IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN.

Seems like the Red Sox are really trying to stir the pot and win back some fans after the Damon signing. All of this speculation is fun, if nothing else. I hate Patterson (as a player), but I can't deny the thought of a rotation of Schilling, Beckett, and Prior makes me salivate a little. Beckett and Prior are both young and could be a dominant force in the AL for several years, though I kind of wonder why the Sox aren't still trying to just swap Manny and Tejada.

I just wanted to add this. Why would Baltimore do this? What does trading Manny for Tejada do? They still would be bad. I can see them wanting a package from the Cubs that includes one of their aces, but why would they let Boston reap the benefits instead of reaping them themselves? Anyways I hope to all heck this doesnt happen. Prior and Big Z better be untouchable.
