Re: Blockbuster Rumor
Say both of the newest Red Sox rumors go down...
Patterson, Griffey would replace Manny/Damon, not completely but better than a plug-and-chug kinda method just finding two random players....and then they'd add Prior and maybe Cedeno, while losing Youk, Arroyo, and maybe 1 or two prospects.
All-in-all that would probably be the bbest team the Sox could field this year, although I hope none of the prospects are Lester.Comment

Re: Blockbuster Rumor
I doubt this happens. 3 way deals are always hard to pull off and one of those teams are going to ask for more then what they originally agreed upon. Tejada is a franchise guy but it'd be very stupid for the Cubs to trade Prior away for a big name SS.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Getting away from Dusty would be the best thing that ever happened to Mark Prior.Comment

Re: Blockbuster Rumor
The only way the Cubs would trade Prior would be if the Cubs got pitching back in return as well as top player.
In this rumor the Cubs would probably need Papelbon from Boston as well as Tejada if they traded Prior.Comment

Re: Blockbuster Rumor
I know this might sound ridiculous, but Papelbon should be untochable.Granted, he never played, and I am not expecting him to be the next Clemens or even a #1 starter at some point in the future, but he has shown nothing but a high ceiling and the tools to reach that ceiling. He could very well be our #1 starter two years from now. So I say he's off limits.Comment

Re: Blockbuster Rumor
Paplebon did play for the Sox last year going 3-1 with a 2.65 ERA in 17 games (3 starts). He averaged 1 strikeout an inning (34) and 1 walk every 2 innings (17). Paplebon should be untouchable because he could develope into a very good ML pitcher.
As for the Cubs, when have we seen them exercise good judgement when it come to making trades (Dontrelle Willis). And anyone who thinks Tejada for Prior isn't a fair trade needs their head examined.Comment

If it was Wood and Patterson thats cool, but Prior would be a mistake to trade.Comment

To add, granted our "D" has improved now, but we need to tweak the piching.
Zambrano & Prior I see as the cornerstones of the pitching staff.Comment

Re: Blockbuster Rumor
Not gonna happen. The three way rumor out of Baltimore is involving the Angels, not the Red Sox. I don't even think that's going to happen.
If Tejada goes to the Cubs it will be just straight up with Chicago. Chicago thinks Baltimore is asking for too much, which they should be.
Prior has been the only name mentioned from the Cubs so far, but the O's had better be getting more than him. Chicago wants Bedard as well.Comment
