Yeah, no way these guys get in next year. I think Cal and Gwynn will both get in first ballot.Comment

Re: 2006 HOF class
Rice was a dick to the media so I don't see him ever getting in.
Jack Morris is a real borderline selection. Who could forget his performance in Game 7 of the 91 WS. The biggest reason he's not in is because his ERA is high. If he was voted in, he would have the highest ERA of any pitcher.Comment

Look at Kareem Abdul Jabbar, he is begging for an nba coaching job but can't get even a sniff because of his mean aloof ways as a player. He ticked people off back then and now he can't sniff a job.Comment

Re: 2006 HOF class
Originally posted by joebooSince Sutter's in, Gossage should be in as well.
There are some more recent relievers that I think have been better than Sutter as well (Eckersley for one).
I heard he would come in and in 9 pitches strike out 3 as easy as pie. They said during his Cubs years that in the All Star game great players would ask out in the late innings so they wouldnt get embaressed by that pitch. He struck fear into hitters and back then he would come into a jam in the 7th and get out of it and finish the game. The good old days.Comment

Originally posted by posterJoeboo I know you know baseball so I was surprised to see you hatin on Sutter. When I was old enough to watch baseball and know what was going on Sutter was still good but past his prime a bit, but my dad always tells me to this day that he was the nasiest reliever he has ever seen and no one was as dominant as him. I did some research myself and heard some thoughts about him and came to the conclusion that he deserves his bid. He was one of the first to master the splitfinger forkball as he called it back then.

Originally posted by joebooNot really hating as much as I'm just a little surprised he beat out Gossage. I have always felt Sutter and Gossage were very similar pitchers, but Gossage always was a little better in my eyes. That's not a knock on Sutter because I thought he was an excellent pitcher, but just a little surprise on my part that he went in before Gossage.Comment
