Ex-White Sox predicts 3rd place finish for the White Sox

Here's Everett shooting his mouth off again. Remember, this was the guy who predicted when he was signed with the Red Sox in 2000 that they would dethrone the Yankees. The Yankees were dethroned BUT just with him not on the team.

    Here are some quotes:

Besides insisting that the Sox now have no leadership in the clubhouse, he also played baseball analyst and predicted there would be no repeat for the defending World Series champions.
OK. So the guys who left the team were Rowand, Harris, Everett and Frank Thomas. And none of them were the leaders of the ball club. And they won the World Series last year so what's this guy talking about?

"You don't have any voices in there to say, 'Hey, let's get this going,''' he said. "[Jim] Thome is a nice guy, but I think early, Thome will be feeling around first.
OK. Just like the previous quote there was no vocal leader in the ball club last year. Everyone knows that the true leader of the White Sox is Ozzie. And he's still there.

"It's a great squad, but it will surprise you who will be the voice in that clubhouse that nobody expected. A.J. [Pierzynski] will be the voice. People won't think about that, but he will be the voice.''
REALLY? Ask any non-White Sox fan when they think of the White Sox is the first thing they think of is A.J. Pierzynski?

The one point Everett did make clear was that team captain Paul Konerko isn't the answer.

"No, he's not vocal,'' Everett said of Konerko. "Neither was Frank [Thomas], but I considered him one of the leaders.
Paully leads by example. Yes, he's not vocal but his play exempilfies the concept of chemistry that lead this team to a World Series. And as far as Frank being a leader...in his prime when he had the chance to be the leader most of the time he lead us to 2nd or 3rd place finishes.

eh i like carl but man....

""No. 1, my feelings on Carl Everett are pretty clear,'' Williams said. "I've traded for him twice, so that's how much I respect him as a ballplayer and as part of the leadership on this team last year. He helped us win a World Series, and I'll never forget him for that.

"As far as his other feelings on our leadership or our chemistry we currently have, we just have to agree to disagree.''

After making those comments in response to Everett, however, a heated Williams then confronted Everett in the parking lot after the game. The two talked for several minutes, but it didn't do much to alter Everett's feelings.

"Nothing has changed,'' Everett said. "There are no problems. Interpret it how you want to interpret it.''"

whoa haha. Anyways, He could be right about the chemistry thing, hed know better than any of us.

Everett is definitely a character. Interesting how it appears as though sox fans have taken this as a threat.

Something Everett says? A threat? come on, guys. Waste your time on something else.

They'll take even the slightest comment and spin doctor it into some type of threat. At this point, you could say the hot dogs at US Cellular are subpar and the Coke is always a little flat and they would feel disrespected.

I don't take it as a threat. Just a disgruntle former White Sox who went from a World Championship team to a 70 win team that's going nowhere. Just jelousy from a guy who couldn't be part of a championship repeat senerio.

I can accept his opinion about the White Sox not repeating. I can even take him saying that the Sox will finish 3rd BUT his reasoning behind it make no sense. Saying we have no leaders in the clubhouse was very strange. First of all, we didn't have vocal leaders in the clubhouse last year so what's his point? Everyone knows Ozzie runs the ship and he's going to run the ship this year.

They forget all about when Williams trades for Everett for a third time.

Well...as an M's fan, I hesitate to say that they're going to go from last to first...because it's most likely not going to happen....but I wouldn't say they're going nowhere. Last year they had a lot of young unexperienced players just getting used to the majors. As a Sox fan, surely you can admit that Reed has a lot more potential than he showed last year. I think he has the chance to improve his average by at least 10 points if not 20 or 30 just this year. Beltre was getting used to the AL, and I think that probably for the first few months he'll continue to this year, but he should have a better year overall this year. With Sexson hitting 30-40 out and simply looking at the defensive side of Johjima and hoping he hits even .250, I think the M's have a much greater chance to win this year. The only real problem left (if you ask me) is the starting rotation. I think bringing in Washburn (a pitcher from the exact same league) was actually a good idea. It's only a small part of what the team needs help with, but at least it's something.

As for Everett...glad to have him riding the bench, at least. He's the first real character of his kind since Pinella left. Wouldn't be suprised if both he and Lawton were gone before the end of July.

Yup, Jurassic Carl has some interesting theories:

"God created the sun, the stars, the heavens and the earth, and then made Adam and Eve. The Bible never says anything about dinosaurs. You can't say there were dinosaurs when you never saw them. Someone actually saw Adam and Eve. No one ever saw a Tyrannosaurus rex."

I heard he said something crazy about the dinosaurs but I never heard exactly what he said. Thanks for sharing that.

And by the way, according to scientific study, human's existed on this earth for the last 5 million years, while the dinosaurs died 65 million years ago.

I dont think the White Sox are a 3rd place team at all; but I wouldn't be suprised if they finished the season in second behind the Indians.
