Re: Willis and Cabrera on the trading block?
Hmm...I'd love for the Orioles to get one of these guys, but wouldn't trade Nick Markakis, Adam Loewen, Garrett Olson, Brandon Erbe, or Radhames Liz to get them. If they can spin a trade involving anyone but those guys, that would be nice.Comment

Re: Willis and Cabrera on the trading block?
If the Marlins are serious about leaving Florida (for San Antonio more likely than Vegas) then they would be foolish to get rid of Willis and Cabrera. If the Marlins are going to sell themselves to other cities they are going to need players like Willis and Cabrera to showcase as the corner stones of the franchise. San Antonio, Vegas, Norfolk or whereever are not going to spend upwards of around $400 million dollars to build a stadium for a AA (yep, not even AAA) team. Loria should just sell the team and never be allowed to own another franchise ever again.Comment

Re: Willis and Cabrera on the trading block?
You guys are crazy. I'd give up anyone in the Red Sox minor league system to get Willis, and most of the guys on their ML roster. The Orioles would be stupid to not trade a guy like Adam Loewen for him. Same goes for the Yankees and Cano/Wang.Comment

Re: Willis and Cabrera on the trading block?
They arent going to get any stadium deal if they dump either of these guys. This is the pitching staff. This is your team. These guys will sell tickets for you, because they are your franchise players.
I dont know what I would do if either of these guys was traded. I cant imagine getting anything close to fair value for Cabrera.Comment

Re: Willis and Cabrera on the trading block?
I cant believe some of you guys would object to trading some dumb minor league players for either Willis or Cabrera. Willis is 24 and has finished second in Cy Young voting and will get 20 wins on any decent team. Cabrera is 22 and considered one of the top 5 players in the NL. Both have won a World Series. It is highway robbery to get either of these guys for minor leaguers and most major leaguers.Comment

Originally posted by rsoxSomehow i don't think a trade involving Luis Matos and Eric Dubose would be enough to get either Willis or Cabrera so the Orioles would most likely have to part with both Markakis and Loewen just as the Red Sox would have to offer Jon Lester and possibly Dustin Pedroia in any deal for either of them.Comment

Originally posted by JJLinnLoewen is a future 20 game and Cy Young winner. You don't trade that away. Markakis is a future all-star. I'd trade them a package centered around Hayden Penn and other prospects like James Johnson, Val Majewski, etc. They wouldn't accept it, but that'd be my highest offer.Comment

Re: Willis and Cabrera on the trading block?
I just think Cabrera's work ethic issues will be his downfall. He seems like a guy that could be a cancer to the clubhouse. After reading an artice where he was quoted as saying he wouldn't take advice from veterans, I've kind of lost interest, but I'd still like his .325/35/120 in Baltimore. Just not at the cost of team chemistry.Comment
