This is what happens when he gets in a lineup this stacked. If you're the weakest link in the lineup you're going to see a ton of good pitches to hit.

Then it should be fun in September when you're posting about a guy who has cooled off considerably and is hitting .270 with about twenty homers and seventy RBI and is stuck on a third place team.

This is what happens when he gets in a lineup this stacked. If you're the weakest link in the lineup you're going to see a ton of good pitches to hit.

Or he gets a legitimate chance to play every day. Much easier to relax and hit, when you know even if you go 0 for 4 you will be in the lineup the next day.

The Padres completely mishandled him, as they are prone to do.

Well, let's go back to about 1993. I was 5 at that age. I wanted to be a fan of winners. I was a bandwagoner at the time. Growing up I used the excuse that my fav teams are my cousin's fav teams rivals. He is a Mets, Giants fan so it kind of worked. Anyway, that's how, lol.

Ignoring the third place comment for now are you saying that a .270 batting average, 20 homers and 70 RBI's is bad for a 7th place hitter?

.270 20 homers and 70 ribs would be the cleanup hitter for the Padres. Although we're getting much better production out of Mike Cameron.

Breaking down like they are right now? They're not even on the DL...unless you're calling Kaz Matsui a big gun Plus he looked like he was going to lose out his spot before the injury anyway.
If you mean Beltran and Floyd, both should be back in the next few games. From what I've heard, Beltran is about 50/50 for wednesday and I would'nt be surprised to see Floyd start as well.
Besides Floyd(150 games played last year), Reyes(161 games played lasy year) and Kaz Matsui no Met player in the starting lineup has been prone to consistently breaking down. Beltran last year even with the sore quad and face plant with Cameron played in 151 games and has'nt missed real significant time since 2000. Starting pitching is another thing but I don't think we'll see X stepping on the mound anytime soon.

It's fun to watch Nady swing the bat. I went to a Beavers game a couple years ago where he hit 2 out against the Rainiers, and they were freakin' TOWERING blasts. I knew right then that he was something much more special than his MLB numbers or anybody else was giving him credit for.

I'm not suprised in the least that he's hitting so well. I might be suprised if he hits close to or over 30 out, but that's about it. I expect anywhere from a .250-.275 AVG from a full-time Nady, and I think that is something that half the teams in the MLB would gladly take. I think that when pitchers stop underestimating him, his average will start to plummet. The good news is that I don't see how it could possibly drop below .250, and I've always felt like that's a damn good number for a 3rd or 4th outfielder, which is what Nady is.

However, I think that Nady is finally siezing the opportunity presented to him here, and making a bid for future MLB status -- A lot of players have performed well for one year in the MLB only to spend the rest of their careers not living up to the hype, but always finding an MLB team stupid enough to think there is still some kind of "spark".

I'm not saying that I WANT Nady to be one of these guys, nor am I saying that I even respect them or wish it on anyone. All I'm saying is that it's a possibility. I like Nady, but he can be a little streaky, which is why he hasn't really had this kind of success until now.
