No disrespect to you but this is the problem with fans. They fall in love with a player and can't accept his holes.

Assuming Milledge wants to learn (I realize it's an assumption) he will be a better player than Nady.

Nady didn't hit for power or get on base. He's a solid role player, but that's it.

It has more to do with his attitude. The kid shoved an ump in the MINORS. B/c he was called up, he will not face disciplinary action. They can only do it on the same level of the infraction.

The team right now has gelled(sp?) together and his problematic demeanor can only hurt them.

So, do you think if the D-Rays had happened to call Delmon Young the day after he threw his bat at the home plate ump in May, he shouldn't be punished for his actions because he was no longer in the minors? Do you really think that MLB would rule it out of their jurisdiction and not levy a fine and suspension of their own?

I thought I read that the commisioners office did not see evidence of a shove...The kid's got a swagger. What's so wrong with that? You've got people judging the kid's attitude and character, but he just got in the majors. Let's give the kid a break and a chance.

I'm not saying he shouldn't be punished. I'm only referring to what was reported in the article I posted.

I didn't read that... link? The problem with the kid's swagger is you have a team that's playing well right now and you're risking that.

Besides, he SHOULD NOT be getting a shot as an everyday starter after the amount of hustle and smart play Chavez has brought to the team this year. Milledge has not proven he deserves a starting position. If you're interested in a Championship run, Milledge is not the answer. Maybe the future... but not this year.

Chavez is def. flying under the radar this year...

I can agree with this to a point. Milledge probably shouldn't be starting, but he is because he's supposed to be good.

It's not like he's replacing a good player. Chavez, Nady, those are role players.

Trust me, I understand where you are coming from. But, if management believes that Milledge is going to be a great player than they need to find that out right now.

It's not like the Mets have anything to worry about in the National League.

Nady will never hit close to .300. He's too streaky of a hitter to do that.

But 35 HR is what Nady can do if he ever pulls it together and actually doesn't fizzle off after having a hot start.

I agree with you head coach, they will probably regret it because he was a solid Right Fielder, he could DH versus AL if needed, and he could be utilized as a late-game pinch hitter because he's a pretty solid hitter. My thoughts on Milledge, I believe it was wrong what he did to the ump, but you got to do what you got to do, and at that time, he decided to push the ump, and now will most definetly face the consequences. Milledge though should be fully ready for the big leagues within the next 2 years.

You're obviously a Yankee fan who knows nothing about the cross town team so stick to the yanks talk, Nady did bat for power, he had 15 homeruns at the half way mark, last time I checked 25-30 HR isnt that bad, and it isnt all about "getting on base" its what you bring to the table, Mets fans loved this guy and rightfully so, be brought a great feeling to the team and you always felt good when he came up to hit.

Nady has never been one to get on base via the walk. If he ever reaches his potential he'll be more than just a "role player". He has not been given a full season as a starter, he's always getting benched when he slumps and never has a full opportunity to get out of it.

Nady has never hit 20 homeruns in his career and you're telling me he's a 35 homer guy?

Who cares what Met fans felt about Xavier Nady. Yankee fans could love Luis Sojo - doesn't mean he's a great player.

Feelings have nothing to do with performance. That shouldn't be hard to understand. If Nady was so important to the Mets and their performance how come they are still winning baseball games and he's not wearing their uniform anymore?

I have to add this edit. You mentioned Nady having 15 HR at the break. I honestly don't see what that means. Shelton hit 10 HR in one month - are you still convinced he's going to get to 35 HR this year?
