It's fun to watch Nady swing the bat. I went to a Beavers game a couple years ago where he hit 2 out against the Rainiers, and they were freakin' TOWERING blasts. I knew right then that he was something much more special than his MLB numbers or anybody else was giving him credit for.

I'm not suprised in the least that he's hitting so well. I might be suprised if he hits close to or over 30 out, but that's about it. I expect anywhere from a .250-.275 AVG from a full-time Nady, and I think that is something that half the teams in the MLB would gladly take. I think that when pitchers stop underestimating him, his average will start to plummet. The good news is that I don't see how it could possibly drop below .250, and I've always felt like that's a damn good number for a 3rd or 4th outfielder, which is what Nady is.

However, I think that Nady is finally siezing the opportunity presented to him here, and making a bid for future MLB status -- A lot of players have performed well for one year in the MLB only to spend the rest of their careers not living up to the hype, but always finding an MLB team stupid enough to think there is still some kind of "spark".

I'm not saying that I WANT Nady to be one of these guys, nor am I saying that I even respect them or wish it on anyone. All I'm saying is that it's a possibility. I like Nady, but he can be a little streaky, which is why he hasn't really had this kind of success until now.

What kind of player is Nady in the field? If he keeps up what he is doing now it's okay IMO for him to be an average fielder. If his average levels out around .260 or so, I would only want him to be a starter on a team I cheered for if he can be an outstanding fielder.

I don't know much about Nady, so maybe he is good in the field. It looks like he averages about 5 errors a year in the outfield, but how is his arm strength?

In the minors, Nady won an award for his defense at first base, which proved moot last year as he struggled defensively at that position when he dethroned Nevin of that job (which he'd later lose). In the outfield Nady has average speed and will sometimes miss a ball or too. He has an above-average arm and is best suited for the corner outfield spots.

At the plate Nady is very streaky. There are times he'll be a monster at the plate then there are times he'll look like he has no business in the league. He possesses power to all fields. His biggest weakness at the plate is not laying off the eye-high fastballs or the sweeping sliders and curveballs on the outside corner of the plate. He will strikeout a lot. However, he rarely misses a mistake pitch by the pitcher.

Should be a solid starter and possibly an All-Star in his career.

Nady hit a BOMB the other night... first pitch.

He has SIX homeruns people... this kid has flashes of power! Plus, he's batting .317 with a slugging % of .610.

He has been a very nice pickup. If he can keep his average at a decent level and provide some pop out of the bottom of the order the Mets should be in good shape. I wonder if they might try to deal Diaz for something during this season?

Then it should be fun in September when you're posting about a guy who has cooled off considerably and is hitting .270 with about twenty homers and seventy RBI and is stuck on a third place team.

He plays the whole year and doesn't get traded... you'd be correcting a lot more than that!

You better get used to the Mets at the top of the standings. Jose Reyes-23. David Wright-23. Carlos Beltran-29. All these guys are the best at their position in the National League.
