This from the same guy who has been on the DL every season he has been in the Majors, not to mention has already had reconstructive surgery on the elbow in question. He's made thirty starts in a season a grand total of one time over his professional career. Oh, and he got sent home by his club last season because he was ripping his teammates and the organization. So, not only is he a health risk, he's also likely to develop into a cancer.

Have a fun next five years living in denial.
He has wicked stuff, but he does seem injury prone.

Almost sounded like he was conceding that Burnett may be a bust. This was right after the host wanted Arnsberg to comfort Jay fans out there that this was nothing serious. He did everything but.

Jeff Blair said the Jays brass (behind closed doors) thought AJ over-reacted the first time he got injured in ST.

When AJ signed I had mixed feelings. He's got great stuff but he has trouble staying healthy. Despite the cost, the Jays are better with AJ than without AJ.

I hope the latest injury is nothing more than another 15 day DL trip. If he continues to have injury issues, this will look real bad on JP. No other team wanted to offer him a 5 year deal.

If the Jays want to compete for a playoff spot, AJ needs to stay healthy and be effective.

I wouldn't go so far as to label Burnett a clubhosue cancer. I find it hard to imagine anybody that wouldn't have been pissed off at how the players were treated in Florida last year. There is ample evidence that management down there has their heads up their asses.
In addition, it appears Jack McKeon's schtick as the old hard-line codger had grown tiresome and the players were tired of listening to the old goat rant and rave. I forget what exactly caused Burnett to go off at the end of 2005, but I remember thinking to myself "Hey, I can't blame this guy after watching how screwed up the team was run."

There's a lot to question about Burnett's physical abilities, but I don't think there is enough evidence to question his ol' noggin.

I was upset when the Rangers couldn't close the deal with him, maybe that was a blessing.

"If Andrews finds nothing structurally wrong with the elbow he performed tendon transplant surgery on in 2003, then it's time somebody called out Burnett."

I agree with Blair. If Andrews examines his elbow and says there's nothing wrong, it's time to call out AJ. Something tells me the Jays brass is getting restless with him.

If he's really injured than there's no way he should pitch but if he's not, than there's no reason to keep him on the sideline.

Well apparently Dr Andrews told him he has a ligamnet sprain and some scar tissue problems but no structural damage, unless he was given an MRI those diagnosis are pretty much a guess. I'm starting to think this clown is a headcase. Almost like he's feeling too much pressure with a big contract and he's using this as a crutch in case he fails. Wonderful we paid 55 Million to a hypochondriac, just can't wait to see how he responds to the pressure of a playoff game. He'll make Rick Ankeil seem well adjusted. If Ricciardi didn't have his head up his *** he would have picked up Beckett from Florida when he was available instead of overpaying for this china doll.

The good news is i don't think you'll have to worry about seeing how he responds to the pressure of a playoff game .

Keep writing us off but the Jays WILL make the playoffs. I really hope they make it and play the Sox.

I'd love to see you cry when they beat them in 5 games.

Who's going to pitch the Jays to the playoffs? Josh Towers?! Gustavo Chacin?! Burnett and Halladay haven't shown much so far this year. While I think Halladay will eventually get on track, I'm less optimistic about Burnett. To me, they look like last year's Orioles. They're hot as a team at the plate to start the year but when the hitting cools off the weak starting rotation will show itself.

Chacin's not that bad of a pitcher, Halladay will get back on track, Lilly can be hot and cold tho hmm.

This is clearly a team that will lean on the offense and bullpen.

Considering the horrid starting pitching the Sox and Yanks displayed last year (the Jays had the lowest ERA in the division) and they still made it I don't think starting pitching is as important as most think as long as you can belt the ball well which the Jays are doing this year. Outside of Wells none of the Jays hitters are streaky and should keep it up for the most part at least enough to get by on average pitching. Considering Halliday is probably the best pitcher in baseball and should get 20 wins then if they can 15 wins out of Chacin(he's durable) and the bullpen performs like last year then they should get to 90 wins and if the china doll can get 12 wins and at least make regular starts in the 2nd half (extremely wishful thinking) they may get to 95 and make it. Everything has to fall in place though and may depend on what arm they can trade for at the deadline.
