But I'll make sure to keep you updated on each and every pitch Felix throws.

I haven't backtracked at all, Felix Hernandez IMO has the best "stuff" in the game of baseball. He throws 95+ consistently with movement (although this season his fastball hasn't been consistently 95+), has a great curveball and changeup...he has command of all of those pitches...and he's not allowed to throw his best pitch.

But darn, he has a 4.57 era...the sky is falling.

His overall career is impossible to project, even his success this season. His weight is pretty concerning and his mechanics are less than perfect. He could easily come down with an arm injury at anytime.

            Heh....question:

How does being a hypocrite make you the "winner" of the argument -- this is directed at the "owned" picture.

No offense or anything, but what do you call someone who skates around an issue and then tries to accuse someone else of doing the same thing on a different but similar issue?

Well...I just accused someone of such, so I might also be a hypocrite...but I'm used to it, and so far I really don't see it. I'm sure if it's there someone will point it out. Thanks in advance.

That's the great thing about being a Hypocrite...everyone is at some point!

As for Felix, I think it's understood that he is struggling, and whether people choose to believe it or not, it's most likely because of a variety of reasons which have been discussed at length already in this topic. As for M's fans getting out of control in referring to him as such a great player that he could be the "greatest in the game", my point (which I'm sure was entirely lost on everyone) would be that most M's fans are very...hmm....peaceful? calm? There's got to be a better more realistic word to use, but that's all I can think of at the moment. M's fans are not likely to get so overly excited about a guy like Felix that they would call him THE best pitcher in the game right now, or anything even close. Those who would are very few and far between. I'm trying to get this point clearly across because there is nothing that aggravates me more than mass generalizations, which are often times made about fans of any particular team. Mass generalizations seem to be made more often about sports related issues, so you'll just have to forgive me for trying to bring a little logic into some of these conversations....

I think "rational" is the word you're looking for.

Ahh, gotcha. I thought I was going stupid there for a moment. (or stupider than usual)

                  I have my moments.

Felix will likely be filthy for years to come, he just needs experience and to stay healthy.

Yeah I went to John Swett and Pinole, Scott was bringing serious heat. I was one of coaches at the Swett. Chris Gambs was my age and he was just like Scott!

Never heard of Chris Gambs (I graduated in '95), but Harrison threw gas. He was probably the hardest thrower I faced.

Well, he sprained his ankle last start...but he won't miss any time.

He really hasn't been struggling this year.

I wonder what the mark on his pitch count will be. He is currently at 49 at the 1/4 mark...I don't think they want him to hit 200 innings yet do they?

I didn't want to make a new thread, so I'll put this here....

Friday night, a matchup of potential future Cy Young winners.

                            Felix Hernandez vs. Francisco Liriano

Nasty vs. Filthy (or vice versa)

I'm excited for this game, might be the last Twins game I really get up for this year lol.

Felix pitched well last night only giving up 3 runs and 5 hits through 7 innings, but Liriano did a little better. 5 innings, 4 hits, no runs, 6 K's. Both did well last night. Hopefully it's a sign that Felix will start pitching a little better.

Remember, it was against the Twins' offense. The same offense that has made a boatload of craptacular pitchers look like Hall of Famers this year.
