I might be in the minority here, and I hope I'm wrong. But I think Jason Grimsley just naming names isn't really going to hold much water. I'm not sure that this will be the "huge find" that everyone is seemingly looking for.Comment

Re: D-Backs Grimsley implicated in steroids probe
Mike and Mike in the Morning had an interesting take on this whole steroid situation as a whole.
For all the "crackdown" on steroids and since we usually think steroids give you home runs and inflated offensive numbers, we are on a record pace this year for 50+ HR hitters.
Also, of all the people who have been tested positive for steroids, over HALF have been pitchers.
So, we're on record pace for 50+ HR hitters, and about half the tested positive are pitchers. Doesn't that tell people something? People need to get off the "Steroids help you hit HR's" schtick, because it's obvious it's not mainly about the hitters.Comment

Let's see Grimsley has played for....
http://www.baseball-reference.com/g/grimsja01.shtml
Phillies, Indians, Angels, Yankees, Royals, Orioles, and Diamondbacks. I guess he wasn't dealing the 'roids in KC from 2001 to 2004.
Also, as far as pitchers using steroids..........it helps your muscles recover faster from fatigue so I can see where relief pitchers would want to take them. Plus, I don't think it would hurt a pitcher to build up additional leg strength.- LETS GO RED SOX!!!

It could also just mean that players are using HGH instead. I'm hoping the Grimsely case opens the door for including HGH in MLB's drug testing. Yes I'm aware he's just one journey-man relief pitcher but if MLB really wants to crack down on drug use then they need to test for something as important as HGH.Comment

Originally posted by blackceasarYeah and before there was any evidence people who call him a juicer now were calling him a juicer then. MVP at 40 or 41 same thing as Cy Young at 40+ Im just going off of what sports writers and people were saying before any evidence came into play. They would do the "you dont hit that many home runs, and win an MVP at that age" Well IMO you dont get that many wins, strikeouts, and a C Young at that age either. Also lets go back and start pulling out pictures of Clemens at 25, or 30 years old and do the 30 to 40 comparison like people did with Bonds and McGwire.
Not saying those that point the finger at Clemons are wrong, just that those that pointed the finger at Bonds were proven to be correct.Comment

So Roger can have a Cy Young year at the age of 40 and its okay (cuz hes a hero somehow)..but Bonds belting 45+ HR at 40 is bad and hes a juicer.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club
