Re: Official Trade Deadline Thread- Rumors, Transactions and Your Own Crazy Ideas

The Red Sox report that outfielder Trot Nixon has a grade two biceps sprain and is expected to go on the disabled list.
A banner day for the Red Sox so far. At least the club doesn't lose much by going to Wily Mo Pena. It's probably an upgrade with the way Nixon has played over the last month.
It would have been nice to get at least another bullpen arm but I'd rather go without this year rather than dish out good prospects.

I'm hearing the Linebrink to the Mets deal may have fallen through...

          Good deal for the Royals.

They have been after Shealy for months.

Hey, I never denied I was going out on a limb.

Too bad that limb snapped in half, and I went crashing down with it.

Hmm...the Rox wouldn't take Hawkins and James Johnson for Shealy, but they take that? B.S.

You went out on a limb, it snapped in half, you hit every branch on the way down, and then continued to roll and crash further and further.

                Terrible prediction.

                    Via Will Carroll:
"The Twins are in rapid-fire discussions with the Nationals regarding Alfonso Soriano. The offers center around pitching, with Matt Garza and Scott Baker the keys. The Twins offered Jason Kubel in the deal in lieu of Garza, but were rebuffed. I'm told that the Twins have informed Torii Hunter that he's being offered around; his option, if declined, would help "pay for" Soriano."
We should know within minutes what Jim Bowden ultimately settles for with Soriano. My guess is that the Twins would rather stand pat than part with Garza. I think Kubel and Baker would be a decent, Major League ready bounty for the impending free agent

Sorry not going to happen. Soriano hasn't been traded.

So there's still a chance Soriano has been delt?

I was pretty sure reports on ESPN were saying the Nats had reported they were not dealing Soriano, and were instead getting started on working on a long-term deal.

                          But...who knows.

No, he won't be traded. I thought that was clear. I was just showing the last minute news on why the deal got caught up.

The Nationals are idiots if they don't sign him to a long-term deal. But I think by passing up all these offers, they must of felt they can sign him.

                              Again...what was Texas thinking?
