Re: Well played, Mr Pavano...
People were saying he was a waste of money.
The point is, when healthy Pavano is a top starter.
I understand he hasn't been healthy and obviously he hasn't done much to come back from injury, but he isn't a waste of money. No one would have known that Pavano would suffer an arm injury, let alone be in a car accident, during his contract."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

I agree, but that wasn't part of what people were arguing.

Re: Well played, Mr Pavano...
By top I really meant top of the rotation (2/3 type of guy). But, bad wording.
He's still a 2/3 (maybe more of a 3) starter in many rotations."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

Re: Well played, Mr Pavano...
You're telling me that Pavano wouldn't be an upgrade of some kind?
The only consistant pitchers on the staff are Mussina and Wang. After that the Yankees pray that Johnson gives up less than five runs.
That's two spots in the order. Surely you couldn't believe that Jaret Wright is better than Pavano."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied.
