I wish the Yankees would do that so we can laugh at them.

For the billionth time... you do not trade the 1st or 2nd best player in baseball unless you are getting the 3rd or 4th best player in baseball back plus some more.

A future HOFer for Santana, Shields and Figgins?? Are you kidding me?

Am i just going nuts or am I correct in this thinking?

Well, if all the reports about A-Rod's "inadequecy" are true (which they're probably not), it might be best to trade him for his sake. I think Figgins, Santana, Shields, and a prospect would be a really nice package, if you're going to end up dealing him. I doubt anything would come close to happening, but that would be a BLOCKBUSTER.

Most sensible post in this thread.

I can't believe this is even being discussed. This thread is just as bad as the "ARod is having a bad year" threads and the "Should we trade ARod now" threads.

Its not a secure enough deal for the Yanks to do it. Figgins is a good player, I actually like him a lot, but he is what he is and can't hope to replace Arod in that lineup. Shields is due for a bad year as the innings have been piled on him over the last few years. Ervin Santana is not enough of a sure-thing to trade Arod for either. Right now he has shown great stuff but looks more like a number 2 or 3 starter instead of an ace and the Yankees need an ace in a bad way. They don't need Javier Vasquez part 2.

There's simply no way you can get fair trade value for A-Rod. He's not going anywhere. The only way he's going to move is that the Yankees pay for most of the salary that they're responsible for paying. And that's a stupid move from a business standpoint.

It won't happen, but I'd love to see it go through.

Still doesn't mean it couldn't happen... Witness the boatload of cash they gave to Carl Pavano, and they're still waiting for a return on that investment... The Yankees are more capable of weathering a financial hit like that than most clubs, so I wouldn't put it out of the realm of possibility.

If ARod has another bad postseason then i think it becomes more possible that the Yankees would try and move him this winter.

I just don't see Brian Cashman trading Alex and his 35 homeruns and 120 RBI. Those are very good numbers to get from someone every year.

We also know that Alex isn't a 20 error 3B. He had a bad stretch. Next year, he'll return to his 10+ error form.

Cashman won't trade a player of Alex's ability without getting a player similar in return (ie: when Soriano was traded for Alex Rodriguez).

A-Rod can put up the numbers, there's no doubt about that. But you've got to wonder how long he can go in NY before he cracks. He's just trying to be perfect in every aspect, and the fans will heckle him if he doesn't deliver in each and every at-bat. He's not going to last long.

I don't understand this. The guy isn't Kenny Rogers.

Alex will put up his numbers no matter how NY fans treat him.

Besides, does anyone here really think Alex will be treated much differently elsewhere? The only difference is the lack of media attention. I don't think Alex cares that the NY media is talking about him. He's already learned to tune them out most of the time. It's the fans. The fans will still heckle him no matter where he plays.

I just don't see A-Rod willing or requesting a trade from the Yankees. Few people get the chance to play on their favorite childhood team. Sure, playing in New York is like playing in a pressure cooker, but A-Rod would never want to leave despite all the pressure.
