The only way I sign this deal is if Francisco Rodriguez is included in the deal. Rivera is nearing the end and the foundation for the those Championships were the bullpen of the Yankees. I would love to have Jered Weaver as well but he would crumble like a crouton if he pitched in New York.

Besides, does anyone here really think Alex will be treated much differently elsewhere? The only difference is the lack of media attention. I don't think Alex cares that the NY media is talking about him. He's already learned to tune them out most of the time. It's the fans. The fans will still heckle him no matter where he plays.
He'll still be heckled but he won't be booed by his entire home stadium anywhere other than NY when he is putting up good numbers. I realize that he has been bad in the field this year and bad in clutch situations, but I just don't see any other teams' fans, outside of the Mets, booing him the way they do in Yankee Stadium.

I don't think the Mets fans would boo him. At least I know I wouldn't if I had his numbers in my lineup every night... I like to think there's a difference between us and Yank fans in that regard. But I guess it's moot, as we're set at 3B and SS for the future...

Didn't Mets fan boo Beltran on opening frickin day?

Don't know, wasn't there... Maybe they did... I know he got booed some last year for what was perceived to be a bad season... If they were, it sure wasn't as publicized as what's been happening with A-Rod.

This is why I've blamed ESPN for part of the problem.

They made Alex a national story. They talk about him non-stop even when he's playing well - almost as if he isn't supposed to be doing that.

I really would like to hear what Harold Reynolds has to say about his firing. I know he says it had nothing to do with the Alex Rodriguez coverage, but for something like that to leak, I'd be there was at least a few minutes of anger spent on it.
