A-Rod was MVP for the lowly Texas Rangers. Give the guy a break, he's a great player.

CJ, I wouldn't want him and his media circus at all. Sure, he'll put up great numbers and everything, but I wouldn't want all the attention and all that other crap that comes with getting someone like him.

It's not like anyone else on the team was lighting it up at the plate.

Hopefully this will squelch any of the complaints that he's not a "man" about being a "sh!tty" player. Looks like he's accepting full responsibility for his performance. Wheres the "true" Yankees like sheff, and the others?

WOW!!! A Yankee fan crucifying AROD, big surprise. Its not all his fault. He gets ripped by the ignorant New Yorkers win, lose or off day.

In todays LA Times T.J. Simers (who i generally can't stand) kept calling him AnaheimRod and made a joke about how it was a mistake to bat ARod 8th because Angels GM Bill Stoneman will see this and will balk at giving up top prospects for a guy who hits that low in the order.

Re: You people who say you'd take ARod any day of the week make me laugh

To be fair, all of these people who are tearing into Yankee fans for crucifying A-Rod do not watch A-Rod play every day like us Yankee fans do.

I've said it a million times, that statistics in sports do not tell the final story. So many people say "How they hell aren't you going to take .300, 40 HR's and 120 RBI and be happy as hell, especially from a third basemen?"

Well, because these are the people who don't watch the man play every day and don't understand it. You could bat .400 with 50 HR's and 150 RBI, but what good does that do if you can't get a hit in the post season?

For the Yankees and Yankee fans, the regular season is essentially spring training (and I know that's a problem and that we're spoiled, blah blah blah) and the post season is the real season. And let's be real, the New York Yankees would have had a good enough regular season the last three years to make the playoffs if Alex Rodriguez was not on the roster.

Alex Rodriguez is a .114 hitter who can't drive in a run. That's the bottom line.

Would I trade him? Eh, probably not unless we got some stud pitching prospects, but people need to understand that A-Rod deserves alot of the criticism he gets. Now, no one blamed the ALDS directly on A-Rod, so don't come back w. a response saying "no one else hit either" because I know that and understand that. But as the team's $25 million player and best (well, most talented) player, you've got to be the crutch the team can lean on when things aren't going well. When the going gets tough, A-Rod crumbles.

A majority of my friends are Red Sox fans and Met fans. They laugh hysterically at A-Rod and they pray that he doesn't leave the Yankees - because they want him there so he can continue to not get it done when it matters most.

Now I'm ready to get ripped by Yankee fans for being an "idiot" because they are dillusional and act like absolutely nothing is wrong with A-Rod, and ripped by non-Yankee fans for being ungrateful and spoiled. Oh well.

This year that might be true, but there's no way thats true last year. They finished tied with Boston, would have won the wild card by one game I think, and A-Rod won an MVP. There's no way they don't lose a few more games without him, no matter who you replace him with.

Right, but at the same time we would have had Soriano (or someone else if we had dealt him elsewhere). I'm not saying we just scratch A-Rod off the roster, I'm talking about if he hadn't been traded.

I didn't do a good job of making that clear.

Well if you trade A-Rod's 2005 numbers for Soriano's 2005 numbers, I doubt we make the playoffs.

Way to take a small sample size and use it override years of production.

Ok, take any year Soriano has ever had, and replace A-Rod in 2005, and chances are we still don't make the playoffs.
