With Uncle Lou being there, anything's possible. A-Rod would be a big splash signing for the Cubs but let's face it, they need pitching before offense.

Could happen. There were rumored talks between the cubs and yanks about a deal centering around Aramis Ramirez and Arod. Will be interesting to see if Ramirez will be willing to not opt out of his contract to facilitate a trade with the yanks. Not sure where he stands there though.

True the cubs need pitching, but this is a trade where if the right guys are involved, i'd love to see the cubs pursue.

Anyone got a link to the preliminary list of free agents this offseason? Might give us an idea of whom the cubs could go after pitching wise.

The Cubs should trade Ramirez, Eyre and one of their young starters (not Zambrano) for ARod. They could then go after Schmidt, Zito, Padilla (id rather have Schmidt). Plus I think the Cubs should sign either Soriano or Lee. I read that their payroll is expected to go up to 115 mil.

The Cubs then could have this lineup:
        C Barrett
        1B Lee
        2b Cedeno
        3B Rodriguez
        SS Izturis
        LF Lee/Soriano
        CF Pierre
        RF Murton

I think of all the people who might benefit from having Lou here it might be Murton. He is not too dissimilar in style of play. Plus even without Lou I wouldnt be surprised to see Murton have a solid year. Last year he went through the learning curve and made adjustments so it should be a little better with him going forward.

I can't imagine this deal happening w.o Zambrano coming to the Bronx.

I'd love to see A-Rod get out of NY. Seems like a change of scenery is all he needs.

I think going back to SS would be just as important.

I'm not holding my breathe on this one. Last year we were suppose to get Furcal, that didn't happen. I would love to see this deal made though. At least we're talking about it. Last off-season all we did was pick up a leadoff hitter. I would absolutely LOVE to see a deal struck that got A-Rod on the Cubs and Prior and Wood out.

Theres a rumor that says Pinella took the Cubs job because they are expanding the payroll to $125 million. I would expect hendry to wheel and deal this offseason.

So you're done with Prior? I can understand with Woods. But Prior is still young and all that potential is so hard to give up on.

They better raise that payroll. All these years of ****ing on the fans and taking their money. They owe it to the fans. Now they need to spend wisely, but if true its a start. I still don't like the ARod idea, although I think they now have a manager who will hold players accountable. If the Yankees want Carlos, Hendry better tell Cashman to kiss his white ***.

If the Cubs sign Aramis Ramirez, they could then offer Aramis, Hill/Marshall/Guzman and even Eyre would be worth it to them. It would actually be better for the Yankees because they would also get a productive 3B which arent easy to replace. To be honest though, I half expect this deal to happen. It seems the Tribune is more willing to do big things now than recently.

Hill and Zambrano better be untouchables. Rich Hill was unhittable the second half of the season.

Rich Hill Straight up for A-Rod. Maybe?
