This has to be the worst idea ever. IMO, this crosses the line, ok the winner of the all-star game, that league gets home field advantage for the world series?? Ok, so this defeats the purpose of having a good record so that if you do make it the to the series, and your record is better than your opponent's you've earned the home field advantage. Basically, let's say some Devil Rays pitcher gives up the game winning hit to a Marlins player, and therefore in the world series the Yankees, who let's say have the best record in baseball, don't get home field advantage over let's say the cinderella Cubs, all because some damn Devil Rays pitcher lost the game for the American League in the all-star game. If we use this example, then in the end, we've let the damn world series be affected by 2 players that have nothing to do with the series and say their teams didn't even have to make the playoffs.
Let's go all the way with this idea...let's not have a season at all, we'll just have all-star game and let's say the teams that go to the "playoffs" are determined by the player that wins the HR derby, the player that gets the win for the AS game, the player that gets the save, and the MVP of the game.
For the world series, forget home field advantage, the series will be played in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.
