Don't bank on it unless the Yanks are really THAT desperate. Everything i've heard has said the Yanks would never allow Clemens to get a cushy "you can do anything you want. You don't even have to travel with the team" treatment that he got in Houston last year.

Re: Andy Pettitte could be coming back to N.Y
Pettitte for 2yrs at 34 and 35 years old for 15 mil a season is a much better deal than Lilly for 4 yrs $10 mil, Schmidt's 40 something million, Padilla 33 mil, Gil Meche's eventual 10 mil a season and so on. I mean, Met fans--El Duque got a 2 yr deal--He's 102 years old.
Anyway, Pettitte will be a better signing than Zito and his 100 million dollar contract for 6+ years. The spending this winter is back to how it was 4 or 5 years ago. I don't want to hear baseball (and I mean you Boston--Have fun with JD on the DL) cry poverty again.. Who would have thought that spending would be so out of hand and the Yankees didn't have anything to do with it (yet).Formerly Favre4vrComment

Lurch returns.
Pretty damn good signing. If this also means Clemens is coming back, then the Red Sox almost have to sign Matsuzaka at this point...Comment

Good signing for the Yanks. Pettitte might be getting older but he can still pitch. Also, contrary to popular belief he has been pretty reliable. He missed time in 2004 but started over 30 games in both 2005 and 2006. I think he'll easily win 15 games for the Yanks.Comment

Gotta love those Sox fans. Although, I like the Lugo signing for them. I'll take Pettitte any day over the other free agent pitchers, especially on a year to year basis. BTW--Pettitte made 4 starts out of 35 against the AL (Chi, KC, Tex, Det).
