    Why the Pat burrell Hate?

    15th in Homeruns
    18th in RBI
    8th in Walks
    11th in OBP
and had less strikeouts then utley and howard

He did all that hitting behind

Ryan Howard who hit 58hr 150rbi
    utley 30hr 100rbi
    rollins 25 75rbi

last i checked a player who hits 25hr and 95rbi is pretty good production

Good enough production, but wasn't he supposed to better?

Burrell was once considered a big time prospect and while he has put up decent numbers over his career i think people were expecting him to put up numbers like we have seen from Ryan Howard.

Close to the deadline last season, there was a rumor that the Cardinals were going to trade for him. I would have gladly liked that much. I've always liked Pat Burrell.

Because hes lazy as ****! I've never seen anyone jog to a ****in ball in the corner...**** his production, someone take him from us. I rather have Wilo Mo Pena in our OF.

Us Mets fans have a reason to hate him, if you know what I mean, but as a player I think hes a good player.

He has the most hollow stats of anyone in baseball. I've never seen the man come through in a big situation. He's like a poor man's Sammy Sosa, swings as hard as he can and more often than not makes poor contact but occassionally will lift one out.

I could be wrong but wasn't Burrell considered a bit of a locker room nuisance during the Bowa years? I believe he also made some unfortunate statements in Playboy a couple years back.

At least someone knows. Thank you.

He strikes out too much, but he doesn't even go down swinging. He just stands there looking at a fastball going down the middle. Now, you would think he should be swinging at those, right? He has left so many men on base, it ain't even funny.

On top of that, he only knows one swing...swing hard and for the fences. Ask him to pull the ball and he'll give you a lost puppy look. If he was pulling, he would be a damn good hitter. But the dumb nut refuses to do so.

Plus, he is a bastard in the clubhouse. He is what is left of the Ed Wade regime...which was full of players that didn't give a crap and hated the fans because we wanted more.

He'd rather party...instead of hitting the batting cages to work on that .200 average with runners in scoring position. Utley and Howard are on-base machines. Burrell's numbers should be MUCH higher. He's a bum that needs to get his priorities in order.

There's no reason opposing pitchers shouldn't throw him sliders away....all day. Watch him wave at it. He's perfected it.

Sorry but MR. Pedro Feliz has that market cornered!

Be careful what you wish for. If you give Wily Mo Pena 550 AB's in a season he's going to break the strikeout record. He might hit 30+ HR's, but he's going to K a ridiculous amount (and doesn't walk much so his OBP is very poor).

                            Does anyone remember Rob Deer?.

Rob Deer hit at least 21 HR's (back when that was considered a good season) in 8 consecutive seasons (1986-1993), in those 8 seasons he led the AL in Strike Outs 4 times and never hit above .252 in any given season, in 1991 he hit .179 with 25 HR's. Deer has 556 more career Strike Outs than Hits and still managed to hit 230 career Home Runs.

Deer made a career of Striking Out and hitting Home Runs. Ideally not what you want to see: 30 HR's and 180 SO's but it's not the worst thing either.

If Deer was slow, striking out might be better than grounding out.
