    Does Anyone Like Realism Anymore?

Last year, High Heat was arguably the closest representation to a simulation out there. So why is it that so few people are interested in it this year? Has everyone lost interest in realism? Granted the graphics don't compare to those of WSB or ASB but the realistic aspect of the game beats both of those, in my opinion. And MVP is a new game. Why does everyone wanna try this one? Yes, maybe it will be a completely different game than Triple Play but it still probably just going to be a building block for the future. Yet HH still seems to be the least hyped out of all of the games coming out. Why is this?

I agree. I just think that there is more hype with WSB and MVP. Those games seem like there bringing more to the table then HH. Sure, HH will be the sh!t (everyone knows that) but they don't seem to have anything new to get hyped up about.

        for ME 2 things

        1. graphics...i didn't drop 200 bones for realism...sure its important, but for today's consoles, im mean come on..some of last years HH graphics were just embarrassing (sp?)

        2. i know its real (i rented it for about 15 days)...but it just seemed predictable. i was the red sox. just about every game went like this....i get 2/3 runs early (1-3 inings) from the likely bunch (manny, nomar, shea) then nobody can hit anything for 4 innings...and then 7/8 inning here comes nomar with a double then manny with a HR....it just felt like i knew they would come through in the clutch.

it just seemed like it was too heavily based on their ratings. when i play a sports game yeah i want a sense of realism but i also think that if i control the ROYALS my ability to play/manage/ G manage that team to a world series victory
        is possible.

for me though a LOT is graphics (im sorry but thats how it is for me--especially for the price of these consoles--and u guys with PC's that run close to 1000 I'd be livid)

        great discussion though !!
Bummed that you're not on my ignore list yet?.....Don't worry, I'm sure you will be very soon.

I think this year you will find that WSB and ASB are just as realistic as HH , but with better graphics and a deeper franchise mode.

For me: I also want to have fun playing the game. The HH realism was ,IMO, so great because of the lack of input the user had in the game.
I have to have the whole package: Graphics, strategy and FUN factor. Yes the others "might" not be as "real" but I have more overall fun playing them.

I disagree Heelfan. That could change though I would love it if WSB or MVP turned out to be better than HH as far as realism. All of the hype we are seeing for all of the games will be tempered once the games arrive. Right now MVP has me very excited as does WSB. That has happened before and then the game let me down. I know alot of people want some realism mixed in with great graphics and super presentation. In fact, that is probably the majority. I want realism, realism, realism and time in and time out HH has delivered realism. This year HH looks to be the best it has been in 3 years. Will it look better than the others? Most definately not. If thats the price I have to pay for realism then so be it. If I had to guess, when the smoke clears around April, I'll be playing the hell out of my HH Phillies franchise. Thats just me. To each his own.

Padgoi, I'm extremly pumped for HH2004

I was just speculating. I think if WSB and ASB corrected all the bugs (which is seems they did), we will have a good game in every category. I would't be surprised if HH isn't around next year. If I ever bought HH again, it would be for PC.

To be honest, if a developer with some muscle bought HH and did the entire package right (graphics, etc.) I would love it. 3DO isn't exactly the champion of customer support.
