Re: Does Anyone Like Realism Anymore?

IMO, graphics, and how they animate are directly related to realism. If it doesn't LOOK real on the screen, then just how REAL is it? I am certain that a programmar out there can animate black and white stick figures in a game of baseball, and have the game result in "realistic" stats. But how real is that? I assume that most gamers want the realism that is portrayed on tv. That is what we have to judge and compare our games against. The gaming industry has moved swifty into the "Next Generation." And if a game company releases a game on a next-gen console, then they WILL be judged harshly for not taking advantage of the technology of the day. As good a sim as HH has been, I have never been able to warm up to it since HH2000PC. 3DO is STILL pushing an antiquated graphics engine to us, when it is obvious that they need to scrap it and start fresh. I am hoping that HH2004 will compete with the other games out this spring. But until they tighten up the graphics/animation package, how REAL can it be?

great reply Bubba, I feel the same way. Most gamers want a game that closly resembles what they see on TV. And HH is the most cartoonish of them all. Graphic wise. thats why alot of ppl cant get into the game that much b/c of the missing frams of animation, the unrealistic look of the game despite it playing one heck of a baseball game.

3DO did scrap the graphics/animations engine from last year. This year its an all new graphics engine with mo capped animations. Its not WSB but its definately a big improvement. I watched some substantial video of the new game and like what I saw.

looked at the video, it still looks like the same high heat graphics we have all known and loved over the years.
