ahhahaha you called me a fanboy........you ca..your funny, okay scroll back up a little and read my posts. Then get back to me.

Done yet? Okay, I stated that I would take Soriano over Ichiro if we're talking long term. If I had to say who will have a more productive *2003*! season I would say Ichiro........how is that biased, its based on what I've seen and stats that back up what I'm saying. (personally I'm sick of all these ignorant yankee baseball fans)

Kerplunk- You're an anti-Yankee fanboy. Does that sound better? Your continued ignorance towards them and their 'average' front office is comical. I am a Yankee fan, but I am one of the most un-biased ones you'll find. I give credit where credit is due to other teams. Something which you have been unable to grasp as of yet (or at least to the Yanks anyways). Again, something widely acknowledged throughout the sport is that the Yanks are where they are due to an outstanding front office, top to bottom. And yes, money helps, but you still have to know how to spend it. But I guess if you say it's not that good, then it must be true!

<hr /></blockquote><font class="post"> couldn't have responded better myself if i tried. it's humorous to me how so many people get angry and jealous of the yankee's success. these same people then receive so much pleasure when the yankees only manage to win yet another division championship, instead of winning the world series. i honestly try my hardest to not get annoyed at yankee haters, i feel sorry for them that their sole pleasure derives from the yankees losing instead of their team winning (red sox, mets, mariners fans you reading?) But go ahead and hate us all you want, spew your anti-yankee rhetoric until you reach your last breath. We probably won't hear you anyway, with all the noise those parades make.

          anymore out there?

Anyways, I'm not biased against the Yankees say whatever you want.

They have a great coach, great team, and decent front office. What you guys always seem to ignore though is that they have advantages that no other team in the entire league has. The money helps them on all levels of there organization not just major leagues. They can take risks in the draft and in other countries because of it, not because they are a superior front office/organization. There are many, many moves that are very questionable that they can get away with also because of the money. They make average moves every year and great moves because they can take risks teams like the A's can't.

This isn't a complicated subject. Another thing I'm not jealous of them having such a high payroll. I really WOULDN'T want my favorite team having such a big advantage. The team with the 2nd highest reveunues in the Major Leagues has a payroll 70 some million less then the Yankees.

I'm just stating facts, you guys are the ones accusing me of being biased when in reality I'm just being truthful/accurate. I can list some examples if you want its not hard.

Since when is spending money on the team you own and operate a bad thing? I have zero sympathy for the Royals, Pirates, Cubs, Devil Rays, etc... The owners of those teams have more money than all of us in this forum combined. If they don't want to put the money into the team for payroll and scouting like the yankees do, that is not Steinbrenner's fault. He is passionate about his team, and about winning. And if you're one these owners crying about losing money, then sell the team. No smart business man stays in business if he's losing money. The old saying goes, you have to spend money to make money. No business, a baseball team or a drug store, prospers if the owner just sits on what he has. I've been a yankee fan for years. Not that long ago Tim Leary lost 19 games for the yanks. And I remember the year Matt Nokes was our big free agent signing!!! Are you kidding?!?! And what did yankee fans do? Most of them didn't support the crap George was putting on the field, and didn't go to the Stadium. Thus, George lost money. So he raised his payroll, and spent top dollar on scouting, and Hey, whadda ya know, 7 years later, the first of 4 championships in 6 years. So spare me the "buying their championship" crap. If your team put forth the effort and money the yankees do, and as a result won a title or two, you would look at things a lot different.

Kerplunk actually makes some valid points. The Yankees can and do take some chances that other teams just can't attempt. It's not about spending money, its about having a revenue stream that no one else has, thus giving the Yankees a competetive edge over every team in baseball. $170 million payroll is a bit excessive.

While the Yankees free spending has been good for their team and won them some championships, their driving up the free agent market and creating a rather large difference in the competetive balance in the league has been bad for baseball.

Dude, I understand what you're saying, but explain why owners that had to be wealthy beyond their means just to buy the team in the first place, now suddenly can't put any money into the team. In my opinion, they just don't have the same passion for winning that Steinbrenner has. And it's not the yankees fault if that is the case. They don't care so the team suffers. Maybe fans of these teams should be more upset with their owners than the yankees.

"Kerplunk actually makes some valid points. The Yankees can and do take some chances that other teams just can't attempt. It's not about spending money, its about having a revenue stream that no one else has, thus giving the Yankees a competetive edge over every team in baseball. $170 million payroll is a bit excessive. While the Yankees free spending has been good for their team and won them some championships, their driving up the free agent market and creating a rather large difference in the competetive balance in the league has been bad for baseball."

from what I've heard Steinbrenner doesn't put anymore money out his own pocket into the yankees then any other owner.
