Re: What a joke Soriano better than Ichiro !

While that may be true, even Vlad has a weakness.........dare i say inside pitch.

You cant compare Vlad and Barry, because Barry gets more INTBB than Vlad, or anyone else for that matter. Barry is also patient, very patient, and understands the whole "walk" thing.

A guy (Before the whole Barry, Big Mac and Sosa saga) who would walk 140+, and Hit 35hrs and bat over .320, and was patient and didnt chase pitches was Frank Thomas (Before Injuries and complaining set in). A-Rod, Todd Helton, are also patient guys.

But, there is a difference in being patient, and being stupid. Youve gotta swing, and if Soriano didnt have a good amount of power, he'd be Rey Ordonez chasing all that high heat and coming up empty.

Its hard to imagine that someone in the Yankee Camp isnt telling him to slow down and wait for his pitch. I wouldnt be surprized if pitchers dont pitch to him differently this yr, and his avg drops and his SO's rises. Remember, he SOs every 4.5 AB's, and since he loves to chase bad stuff, pitchers more than likely will take advantage of that.

PS, the best Bad ball hitter is Nomar(simply because he'll hit anthing in any location, with Vlad being a close 2nd because of his power.(Man was he robbed on that HR at the end of the yr)

I said it before and I'll say it again.

Soriano will have a drop off this season. We shall not expect the same numbers. He has a whole lot of adjusting to do. But I believe he will learn a lot this upcoming season and use that knowledge for 2004. He probably won't end up putting up ARod numbers in his career, but 2002 was enough proof that this guy will come close.

I totally agree with what you said.
