Ok all you Soriano lovers. Its one thing to suggest Soriano is better because last year was a great year for him. But to suggest he will have an A-rod type career is out of touch with reality.

A-rod is on pace to be 1-2 with Bonds as the best players (statistically) to put on a uniform. A-rod is also on pace to finish as the all-time HR leader by the time he retires. He is a 1 in 50 yrs. type player. Are you serious when you say Soriano will have an A-rod type career? Wow...bold bold statement.

Back to the arguement, I see it as a draw. One record shattering season for Ichiro, and One great season for Soriano. Lets let this year be the tie breaker.

Why not mention Soriano striking out 100 more times than Ichiro

ICHIRO was close to #1 in AL with OBP til last month or so when his struggled was quite getting bigger. He had an obp of .425 at times before aug and sept. He ended up witha .385 OBP I think and also leading AL with intentional walks.

Soriano has unique talents which are strike out 150 times and walk 22 times. Thats a great talent :d

Are you trying to tell me that the ability to be a 40/40 type player is not unique? I understand your a Seattle fan, but you don't need to be a total homer. No one is saying Ichiro isn't a good player.. But if I want some one that can produce runs as well as score runs and make things happen on the base paths then Soriano is the better of the two. If I want a true lead off, table setter type player then I would take Ichiro.

Whoever said to stop comparing Arod to Soriano, I couldnt agree more. ARod is truly something special, and he is doing things that we've never seen before from a middle infielder. Although I believe he stopped stealing bases last year, but I don't know why. Maybe EROD will have more insight on that.

When did I say that Soriano will compare to ARod?

I said he will have a career similar to ARod in terms of how those years build.

Last year he had an almost 40/40 season. In 2003, I predict he wont have as incredible a season. But 2002 will be an example of the type of player he will become consistantly.

ARod had a great 1996 season. Then in 1997, he kinda fell off. But 1996 was an example of the type of player he would become. He ended up being even better.

So slow down there. Never said Soriano would be ARod. Just said they'll have similar developments.

Strikeouts are not important if you think about it. Jose Hernandez had a ton of Ks, but he hit I think something like .280. It doesn't really make a huge difference if someone grounds out or strikes out. If their batting average and production are high, then strikeouts are just a stat.

The funny thing about this post is, people are making soriano a shoe in to make the hof. STOP STOP STOP! He is a great player but he might have just had one of those years(Brett Boone 2001) Give the guy a chance to play a few years then you can talk about soriano in the same Paragraph as AROD.
