The one thing I find funny is people always saying no team can compete with the Yankees, they always win, they're buying championships. Did anyone watch the last 2 world series?

    <hr /></blockquote><font class="post">

That just happened due to injuries and the Yanks paying a lot of money for the wrong players. They are still going to the playoffs EVERY year and will for a long time as long as they can spend the money they do..

I do agree though that they aren't the only team that is to blame. The owners that choose not to try and compete are KILLING the game.

And to whoever said that there will never be a salary cap because the players won't let there be one... I say that is absolute crap. If the owners could unite and grow some balls and stand up to the players they could get things under control. There might be a strike, but it would be for the good of the game in the long run and any true baseball fan would see it as that and accept the game with open arms when it finally re-emerged.

    Whew, i am tired.

Wow two world series the yanks didn't win and it was like a fire was set in the offices of the yankees. There was even talk of Torre losing his job. 160 million dollars is all i have to say

Well that's just it, the owners won't ever unite. When you have the kind of hatred and bickering between Steinbrenner and Larry Lucchino, it's obvious they can't work together amongst themselves, let alone unite against the players. Besides, the owners have more to lose if the players go on strike or are locked out. I'm sure A-Rod can survive for a while with his 25 mill. he made last year, or Jeter with his 18 mill. The owners need to continue to make money. Most players, assuming they invested wisely, and didn't spend like absolute jackasses, could actually play for free, and not be that hurt.
