Re: Have a feeling.....Yankees
I haven't followed the 2007 team as closely due to moving, but if I was a fan who watched this team from day 1 vs. Kansas City, I would be absolutely livid. Just because you make it into the playoffs doesn't mean winning the division is meaningless.
And also, this team just looks absolutely horrible right now. I know the Cardinals and Tigers similarly played lousy during the last few weeks of the season in 2006, but I would be shocked to see that happen with the Red Sox.
They literally aren't even trying up there (tonight, Julio Lugo failed to run hard on a ground ball to the SS with the bases loaded). I thought I trusted the Red Sox management, but these last few weeks have been as sorry a time as a I can recall in the last 4-5 years of watching Red Sox baseball. What an embarrassment, and now we have to endure more mindless idiotic 1978 quips from anti-Red Sox fans. And the saddest part, these Yankee creep bastards are right.Comment

Re: Have a feeling.....Yankees
Who the **** cares man? This is a total embarrassment because the organization literally does not give a $hit about winning the division. I can't understand this. One of the goals of competing in baseball is to win your division in a given year. The Red Sox were in a position to do this, but have very literally pissed it away with spring training bullpen management.

The Red Sox play lately concerns me, but I don't think it's from lack of effort (other than Lugo's baserunning last night) and I certainly don't see how management is to blame. They're playing at half strength right now and it's showing but if that's what they need to do in order to get people healthy and actually show up in the playoffs, I'll gladly concede the division.Comment

Re: Have a feeling.....Yankees
I guess I fall in the 1% of Red Sox fans that doesn't obsess about the Yankees all the time. Frankly I could care less if we win the division or not. I thought the goal was to win the World Series, not beat the Yankees.

Re: Have a feeling.....Yankees
I don't think it's that important who wins the division. Getting in is the important thing. But if the Yankees do win the division, there will be meltdowns and panic in Boston, and that is always funny, so that's why I really want the Yankees to take it.
I'm not too worried about matchups, I don't really have a preference on who the Yankees play. Cleveland has tough front of the rotation pitching that will be dangerous in a short series, and the Angels always beat us. Both would be tough series.Originally posted by Jay BilasThe question isn't whether UConn belongs with the elites, but over the last 20 years, whether the rest of the college basketball elite belongs with UConnComment

Anyway, it's going to be Boston, New York, Cleveland, and Anaheim in the playoffs. It's all about seeding at this point. Boston obviously wants the Yanks playing the Angels and my guess is even if they don't admit it the Yanks would rather play Cleveland.Comment

Definitely. I still don't think this team can beat the Angels in a 5 game series."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier

Seriously? I don't think the Angels are pushovers by any means but in no way do I feel like the Yanks CAN'T beat the angels in a 5 game series. It's probably closer to even money in my book.Comment

Re: Have a feeling.....Yankees
The Yankees just seem to suck against the Angels. Much like the Sox seem to suck against everyone.
Really, I couldn't care about winning the division, I just refuse to watch the Sox at the moment because the games are painful to sit through. Not for lack of effort, like Cam said, but they just don't seem to be able to put anything together. I have a hard time sitting through a Sox game anyway, even when they're winning, so that doesn't help either, and with school work and such it works out that they are sucking at a time I'm just not interested in watching.
They'll be in the playoffs and that is what matters in the end. Embarassing that they blew this lead? Yes, but it really doesn't mean much.Comment

Re: Have a feeling.....Yankees
I would definitely prefer to play the Indians over the Angels in the playoffs. The Yankees have handled the Indians very well this year and much better than they have fared against the Angels. While Cleveland could be able to use Sabbathia and Carmona in 4 out of the 5 games, the Angels could also use Lackey and Escobar in 4 out of the 5 if they wanted to. Plus, the Yankees have always seemed to hit Sabbathia well while they always struggle against Lackey.Member of The OS Baseball Rocket Scientists AssociationComment
