Re: Cubs need some psychiatric help
They've been getting drilled with some pitches lately. Cant blame Lee for being upset by getting hit in the wrist by a pitch, especially after breaking it last year. Lee will be out for a while, but you cant have a control pitcher throwing near a guys head.
Also, did you see what Peavy said in the paper? Said he thought someone should be thrown at today for Soriano watching his homer yesterday. While I dont condone watching your homer sail through the sky, I dont like guys having pitches wizzing near their heads. -

I find it funny is that Young couldn't say anything back to Lee when Lee was mouthing off. All Young was saying was take your base and Lee got upset even more....this is exactly why MLB players can't police there own actions, they have all these unwritten rules and they can't even follow them because of there egos. So in the end what is the point of unwritten rules if the players are not even going to follow them. The DuCross Brothers: Sports Internet Talk Show

Re: Cubs need some psychiatric help
gee, I wonder why they are getting hit lately. What happened in Atlanta was caused by Soriano and today's actions were caused by Soriano. So if you want the Cubs to stop getting hit...Soriano is going to need to carry himself better than what he has done lately.

I do agree about Soriano, though. Someone needs to tell him to run the freakin' bases after a homer. I'm sure he's glad to get going after his slow start, but he just cant stand there and watch his homers like that, or he's gonna get hit.
However, they should've thrown at him, instead of Lee. Anyone that knows anything about baseball should know that Lee is one of the good guys of the game. Hitting Lee instead of the guy showing off is just idiotic.Comment

Re: Cubs need some psychiatric help
In Atl, Soriano's homers had nothing to do with him getting hit, it was on the single in the 9th that he tried to turn into a double when they were up big.Comment

Re: Cubs need some psychiatric help
reading chris young's lips while lee was talking to him it looked like he said "even your daughter could've see that one" so if that is what was said can you blame him for throwing punches“Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.”

Re: Cubs need some psychiatric help
I'm sure you'd wanna sit down and have a chat with someone that just threw at your head and ended up hitting you on the wrist after breaking a wrist the year before. Young had no business telling Lee what to do. If a control guy like Young hits me, especially near the head, I wouldnt wanna hear anything he had to say. Ego has nothing to do with it, period.

What??? No freakin' way. Not even something to joke about. Are you serious?Comment

Re: Cubs need some psychiatric help
Young was not throwing at Lee's head, it got away hit him in the wrist and deflected upward. Lee should have just taken his base its not that hard. Yeah...Soriano should have been the one to get hit, thus the D.Lee was a accident, but because the cub fans and players and so uptight right now they are going to think everything that hits a batter has some intent right now.Comment

Re: Cubs need some psychiatric help
I don't think Young was throwing at his head. It looked like a ball that got away from him a bit. Not sure though, just the way it appeared to me.
Derek Lee reacted poorly, and it will probably cost his team in the long run. Which is a shame since that division is quite winnable and they appear to be getting things to go their way.
As far as Lee not being that way? How do you figure. Don't forget he was in this organiztion for some time, and was not with out his moments of strife while employed by the Padres.Comment

BTW, i'd never heard of any problems with him in SD. What happened?Comment

Re: Cubs need some psychiatric help
I'm not saying I'm excited to see Lee freak out or whatever. I'm just saying Lee is the last guy I'd expect to see do something like that. Everyone is capable of getting upset, but I, nor most Cub fans i'd imagine, would expect that kind of behavior out of him. Right or wrong, he'll get his punishment and the team will move on.

I like Derek Lee, but this event was his fault. He put himself ahead of the team, and now there's a very strong chance, it's going to cost his team, just as they look to be getting in to the divisional race.
Let's face it, the NL Central is easily the worst division in baseball, and the Cubs really have a strong chance to win it. Losing Lee for a sizeable amount of games, could be the difference between playing in the postseason and talking about next year.Comment

Re: Cubs need some psychiatric help
Huh, I figured they got rid of him because he took so long to develope. Interesting. Thanks for shedding some light.
Still, i'm curious to see whats said after the game and the hearing with MLB that is sure to take place.Comment
