How is baseball not a "pure" sport. I dont even know what that means. Theres nothing wrong with the game. The players and owners may have some problems, but the game is the same as it ever was.

What ever! lol Any ways I don't think he will do it at home. He will probably do it on the next road trip. Unless he gets hot.

Congrats to Hank Aaron. That's the way I'm viewing this. I'm glad many other outlets have taken that approach as well. Aaron has never got his just due and dealt with much worse than Bonds has ever dealt with during the HR chase.

I agree with that, Hank went through a lot more. Death threats wow!

The homerun record will be as tainted as Pete Rose. I don't care about Rose (one of the best players ever) and certainly won't cheer when this event happens.

I sort of like applauding good behavior. Hank, you're still number one.

the media has already hailed Arod as the eventual champion anyways. This will just give baseball fans another reason to care about the record after Bonds breaks it.

I just hope he hits 2 today and gets it done and over with. I'm so tired of this Bonds crap, he just needs to hit two and retire. Then maybe the media will stop with this whole Bonds junk that I've been hearing about for two years. A-Rod will eventually break it anyway. As much as I dislike A-Rod, I'd much rather see him get it than Bonds.

Now I agree to this, but Bonds is not the only guy to cheat. Yes it is wrong, but Hank and other players were taking uppers. So is that right? Who knows, I just wish Bonds would retire and move on, as a Giants fan I am tired of paying a guy 18 million a year and not play a full season!

An olympic sprinter does illegal drugs, he breaks a record and it's found out that he did drugs. I think, if I recall, he'd have his record taken away from him.

Barry just did "clear" and had no idea he was doing roids. Yeah, right Barry. I want to be just like Barry, start rubbing a substance into my skin and blood system that I have no idea what it is. I'll start tomorrow. Makes sense to me.

Well he never tested positive, so there you have it! While I agree he knew. lol He still has come up clean. Also, I am sure Bonds is not the only player. some day all this will come out, and I am sure there will be a lot players on that list! Well, I will say one. His trainers was his friend, so I can see him trusting his friend, but I can also see his friend not giving him something like that, unless he asked for it. So who knows.

The thing is... every Barry Bonds thread, you come in trumpeting the guy. If the guy hadn't been so confrontative with fans and the media and wasn't currently involved with a huge BALCO issue, you wouldn't need to do that.

So I'm not blaming you for defending him, but I don't understand why you would do that. Just because he's a Giant doesn't mean every SF fan has to say he's clean and a saint.

With all the hatred for Bonds. I can't imagine the celebration if/when A-rod gets close. I could really see the whole nation getting behind him as he gets closer to the record.

The thing is... there's no one left in baseball that everyone will get behind to break the record. I'm starting to become convinced that class is gone in sports. The days of Hank Aaron, Wayne Gretzky, John Elway, Barry Sanders, Michael Jordan is gone.

I think we're stuck looking up to *******s... and I'm really worried about kids who are having some of these guys as role models.

That's one of the main reasons I would rather Bonds not break the record.

I really don't even give a damn anymore. He's gonna break it, there's no way around that. He obviously used steroids and wouldn't have been close to breaking this record without them, but I just can't get mad about it anymore. I'm still gonna watch when he hits number 755 and 756 just because I love baseball so much, but I'm really indifferent about it now.
