Before his 73 homer season he was around a career .300 hitter with about a .600 SLG %. Between the ages of 36-40, he slugged .800 plus and hit at about a .350 clip. Pretty damning evidence for a man who's supposed to be past his prime.

Another thread about Bonds turns out the same way.

Although this thread wasn't even about Bonds or steroids in the first place.

Yeah cuz I guess no other players at that age have done what he has done. Look at Ruth's stats at around the same age. http://www.baseball-reference.com/r/ruthba01.shtml

Well it is only because everybody wants to say if we stick up for Bonds we are delusional. So it is what it, you are haters we are delusional.

And I agree with the other poster, who said this wasn't even about Bonds!

Agreed, but if A-Rod ever tried coaching, and he wasn't good at it, it wouldn't be because he has a bad swing that you wouldn't want to teach to people, it would be because he isn't good at conveying the message to other people.

There are different styles of hitting, not everybody has to swing like you, or Bonds, to have a good swing.

Getting kinda personal? I guess you are upset.

I don't understand. You're proving my point. Babe Ruth consistently slugged and hit the same over the duration of this career. Plus, before Ruth came along most of baseball consisted of moving runs over and playing extreme smallball. He was the first big power hitter. I don't understand your logic because Ruth was consistent for so long. Bonds had a sudden spike at the age of 36. Completely different.

That doesn't help prove your point though. If Ruth would have went and hit 80 home runs when he was 37 years old then yeah, it would... but the stats I saw didn't help prove anything really.

I never said that, but I said that if a little player wants any success in hitting the long ball, an arms swing will undoubtedly keep you away from that goal, and legs are the only possible way. In short, if you're a little leaguer that wants to look at a "fundamental" swing, you would look at a picture of Bonds before Rodriguez.

Well it works for A Rod, but everybody is different that swing is not what you would teach to a kid, you would teach them the fundamentals first. Then when they get older they will use what feels more comfortable to them.

The only thing is Bonds choke up on the bat and still have that much power, so most kids that choke up on the bat will not have that kind of power. Hell most power hitters that choke up on the bat wouldn't have that much power.

Those years were also some of the best years Jeff Kent had offensively had batting behind Bonds. So I guess he took steroids too. Even Rich Aurilia never hit as many homers as he had the same year Bonds hit 73. So I guess all of the Giants were taking steroids around the same time. There are too many factors as to why Bonds got hot.

I am sure Bonds took steroids, but like I said I wouldn't be shocked if others have too.
