Re: OMFG The lump in The Unit\'s throat is too big

ummm, I don't complain over little things, but I can understand the complaints.

If a company is gonna claim to be the best then it needs to act like the best.

Don't tell me that the stadiums are perfect replications of the real thing and then somethin as little, yet simple, as the popcorn stand in Comiskey is in the wrong part of the field. That's inexcusable if you said, "our parks are the best replicas of the real thing." Instead say somethin like, "we think you'll agree that our parks come the CLOSEST to being the perfect replicas to the ballparks in MLB."

But yea, a popcorn stand isn't important to me. But since you use it as an example, I might as well bring it up. All I want is some honesty from the developers. I know they are hypin their games up for us to purchase, but at least be honest. Under hype, over perform. Simple marketing tip.

Video games have come a long way, but it's only fair for us gamers to continue pushing companies to make the best products for us. If we didn't complain that we wanted the outfielders to have individual control, then it would probably have taken longer for companies to do it.

Madden was the first game to implement all 22 football players on the field at the same time. Why? B/c EA knew that gamers wanted all the players on the field and they gave the gamer what they wanted.

And if I want the popcorn stand in the right spot at Comiskey, then my 50 bucks should be enough to demand that.
"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

Look, if Joe Dirt's stance is what gets someone off, what's it to you? I agree with you 100%, but I'm really trying this time through to refrain from flaming people for talking about what they want to see.

If that's not what you care about, that's cool. It's a big enough planet that I'm sure we can all co-exist. If it really makes or breaks it for some people to have the right uniform colors, and correctly placed popcorn stands, then let them complain. Who cares?

Blasting them doesn't help the signal to noise ratio. If you want to talk about gameplay, then talk about gameplay. The only thing more insignificant than shoe color in video games is complaining about people who complain about shoe color in video games.

Re: OMFG The lump in The Unit\'s throat is too big

I feel sorry for people who make their game buying decisions based on such petty things. I am not bashing anyone, I am simply saying if these are the worst complaints people have, I think we are in a pretty good state as far as gaming is concerned.

Fossen, you don't have to like or appreciate my opinion, it is just plain ridiculous to see these awesome boards filled with s**t like this, "MVP totally screwed me b/c the 1 time All-Star Paul Konerko's stance is wrong."
I mean if you want the real thing, get your sorry arses off the couch and purchase season tickets.

Oh and Fossen, we put up with this crap during the release of baseball games every year, noone is ever happy enough, nothing is never enough, and these posts are the same as last year.

I mean for cripes sake, who cares if Chipper has on Mizuno cleats when he really wears Nike, does this really break the game for you, b/c if it does, you have real-life issues, meaning you don't have a real-life!

Geez, why can't the game skip to commercials between innings, why are the Mariners jerseys too blue? Why is the medallion on Sheffield's necklace not bling blinging enough?

Perfect example out there, High Heat, the graphics are damn near PS1 quality but it is still argued by most that to be the best representation of baseball.

It is not always the pretty girls who have the best CHOCHA is it? Maybe the ugly girl has no gag reflex anymore but you wouldn't know b/c you are so busy worrying about the pretty girl. Well I will let the ugly girl serve me b/c I am looking for the end result which is satisfaction. So, in closing, I will take satisfaction, and you can take the pretty girl who says "Oh, I would never do that!" So who wins in the end, the ugly game with great gameplay, or the pretty game that doesn't play worth s**t?

Sorry if this is confusing, if anyone needs a deeper translation, let me know.

And I don't mind people posting batting stance irregularities, or missing items, or whatever, but when your post begins:
"MVP screwed me," or "I can't believe 3DO did this to me," or "ASB has made a terrible mistake,".
Like I said, if you see things missing in a game when you get your copy, I am sure if you call the company they will reprogram your game to include cans of shaving cream in the dugouts for jokes, or touch up the paint on the foul pole for you, or make Griffey's chain Platinum instead of gold.
And they will do this b/c your $50 means the world to them each year.

Grow up, wise up, shut up, or put up! Boo-Hoo for all of those not entirely happy with everything on every game!
