    Re: Santana blasts Twins

I hope he doesn't end up in the AL East. It would make competing with those teams nearly impossible. Then again the Jays did recently become the only team to hit 4 HRs in one game against him.

Hm, how bout Santana to the Mets? Minaya seems to have a love for guys from Venezuela and that region of the world.

If you look at the Twins minor league system, at least on the positional prospect side, we have NOTHING to get excited over. All our good prospects are pitchers, and the Twins have proven the past 3 or 4 seasons, that good pitching doesn't mean anything unless you can score runs.
Well, other than Parmelee in 3-4 years, you've got a point.

Well Santana is definately going to a team with a big payroll, such as the Yankees, Red Sox, Mets.

Very true. I'm glad Santana said something because our ownership really needs a wake up call. Maybe they don't care about championships, only profits...Too bad Johan waited till after Castillo was traded to speak up...It would have been better to be buyers than sellers.

Agree 100%. Carl Pohlad is a piece of ****. He is one of the richest owners in baseball and doesn't do jack about anything. I will celebrate the day this guy losses the team no matter how it happens... A SI.com writer was just on local radio saying that Pohlad had Terry Ryan offer Johan a 3 year contract with the third year being a club option at $18 million per year. How insulting is that? We might as well shop Johan in the offseason, although we will have to deal with his full-no trade clause.

Maybe this comment will wake up Pohlad and he will be willing to open his penny purse and get a hitter.

                      Re: Santana blasts Twins

The only places Santana ends up are in New York, in California to a team that doesn't call Oakland home, the Windy, Beantown, or in Texas since Hicks will pony up the dough. The names to get would read like a who's-who of minor league players of the last 2 years.

Top end guys like Matt Cain, Chad Billingsly, Brandon Wood, Thomas Diamond, Lastings Milledge, John Lester, Felix Pie, Phillip Hughes, John Danks, Craig Hansen, Matt Kemp, Mike Pelfry, Erick Aybar........ ect

then probably another all-star caliber player.

It's incredible to think about. We'll just take the Texas Rangers. For them to land Santana, they'd first have to unload Millwood and/or Padilla which take up a ton of change. Then they'd likely have to give up something equivlant to P Diamond, C/1B Salty, RF Nelson Cruz, and RP C.J. Wilson.

The Yanks would probably have to give up Hughes, Melky and another top prospect.

Really, you need to pick up the crack pipe. The Mets can offer a great deal to the twins with prospects, and they can sign him to an extention for a lot of money, get over yourself my freind, he doesn't want to be a twin anymore. NY is the Best stage for him.

Would leave you with an absolutely ancient outfield with Green and Alou though. Adding in the ages of Glavine and Hernandez in your rotation as well as the age of Wagner at closer... you think that would be prudent?

No way Minnesota takes a deal like that.

Eh wait until the offseason before making any guarantees like that. If we sign Hunter, Johan will be singing a different tune i'm guessing. If he still wants out, then you have an argument to make. How many times have athletes spoken out and then changed their mind? The only reason this bothers me more than it usually would is because Johan is typically a very happy-go lucky guy. Hopefully, he will cool down and both sides will be more reasonable.

Why is it that many fans of NY teams automatically assume that star FA's want to play for their respective teams?
