I just don't think we will trade Johan. We have never really traded our star players away in their free agent year like other teams have.

I agree, they probably hold out and stuff and don't trade him as they just attempt to qualify for a wildcard next year again, only to lose him in free agency and hope to draft well with the picks they'll receive in compensation. You know, if they wanted to trade a guy, why not make it Hunter? Just come out and say we can't afford him and that they'd like to use to money to sign Santana to an extension or something. They coulda traded Hunter for a Pelfry and a Milledge or something like that and with Mauer and Morneau anchoring their offense, been just fine. Then it doesn't look like you're just letting players leave. See what I mean? That's what irritates guys like Johan. That they basically got nothing for Castillo, a guy without a whole lotta value other than to the Twins, so basically... what's the point in trading him?

I agree with your post. I do think however, that Hunter will be back next year. We have absolutely nothing to replace him with and would need to go outside of our organzition to replace him. The Twins do have some players within the organization that can play 2B or need to be tested which is why they traded Castillo.

The only reason this bothers me more than it usually would is because Johan is typically a very happy-go lucky guy. Hopefully, he will cool down and both sides will be more reasonable.

Why is it that many fans of NY teams automatically assume that star FA's want to play for their respective teams?
because NY is one of the biggest markets in the states, and NY teams have the money more so then other teams, and when players sign in NY there's even more money to be made in other things in NY thats why.

you might have no choice to trade him, you rather get something for him then him just walking away. I really believe he will not sign with the twins when he becomes a free agent, or if he's not traded by then.

I don't buy into that at all.

Now, if they let Tori Hunter walk, and trade Joe Nathan in the off-season or something, then ya, maybe.
