I'm not excited about this at all. I want baseball to be a clean sport, but it'll be like a punch in the gut if I see some of my favorite players on the list.

    Atlanta Braves
    - Auburn Tigers - Nashville Predators

I'm dreading Thursday. As someone who cares about the history and tradition of the game this will be the modern day version of the Black Sox scandal.

I just hope there are no former or current Blue Jays outed.

So you have at least 100 players at a random time. But over the last 20 years they're gonna say it's 60-80? LMAO.

Baseball does think we're that stupid.
You're right but to be fair, Mitchell probably doesn't have a means to find out who those 100+ players were.

I'm thinking even he doesn't have jurisdiction to those lab reports.

not really. The real problem lies with the owners and people still in charge. Yeah, go ahead and ruin the reputation of 80-100 players, but the owners were the ones that encouraged the era. An internal investigation won't do anything to point the finger at themselves.

No of course. I'm not expecting him to. My point is that 60-80 names over TWENTY years? That's so insulting, and yet again shows how out of touch and stupid baseball is. And how stupid they think everyone else is. I wouldn't expect anything different.

Well of course the owners are to blame. If baseball had suffered economically in that era then Selig would be long gone. It just goes to prove that money is the only thing that matters these days rather then the integrity of the game. If it takes outing these guys to put some shame and spur some action then i'm all for it but it's still a very sad and black day in MLB history.

If you had a strong commissioner like a Kenesaw Mountain Landis, or Bowie Kuhn then there would be some definite action but that's not the case because Selig still thinks and acts like an owner when the position demands an impartial and unbiased person to be running the show.

You know, I'd be disappointed if a majority of the players were retired.

I guess all this time I was kinda hoping it was 60-80 current players.

Re: Mitchell's report to reveal many names

And here we go. I could see this coming from a mile away....

Congressional members anticipate details in Mitchell investigation
                  http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/s...t&lid=tab1pos2

Congress might jump in if the Mitchell report doesn't give answers.

Baseball continues to be it's own worst enemy...

"Let me just say that they were deceitful,'' Shays, a Republican, said of the collective baseball group. "They weren't cooperative. And they were arrogant. And they were like, 'How dare you question us,' kind of attitude. And I want you to know I don't take offense at that. There are certain things as a member of Congress I don't like. But personally, I was just stunned by it because I haven't see worse behavior in anyone in my 20 years in public life in Congress.''

I'm sure the players are just as nervous as the guys that take the paternity test on maury, and they will probably celebrate just as wildly when they find out they didn't get snitched on.

Jistic i'm all for Congress stepping in if they institute a sports wide anti-drug monitoring body like WADA.

Speaking of WADA, Victor Conte is working with them and their outgoing head Dick Pound and giving them information about the drug use in the elite levels of sport.

I don't think there'll be any shockers. I have a feeling we might see Roger Clemens, but I think most will be protected.
