Re: Mitchell's report to reveal many names
I'm dreading Thursday. As someone who cares about the history and tradition of the game this will be the modern day version of the Black Sox scandal.
I just hope there are no former or current Blue Jays outed.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: Mitchell's report to reveal many names
They were saying on ESPN radio this morining that over 100 players tested positive on one random test during the season a few years ago. It was a blind test, just to see numbers. No names were given.
So you have at least 100 players at a random time. But over the last 20 years they're gonna say it's 60-80? LMAO.
Baseball does think we're that stupid.
I'm thinking even he doesn't have jurisdiction to those lab reports."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

Re: Mitchell's report to reveal many names
not really. The real problem lies with the owners and people still in charge. Yeah, go ahead and ruin the reputation of 80-100 players, but the owners were the ones that encouraged the era. An internal investigation won't do anything to point the finger at themselves.Comment

Re: Mitchell's report to reveal many names
No of course. I'm not expecting him to. My point is that 60-80 names over TWENTY years? That's so insulting, and yet again shows how out of touch and stupid baseball is. And how stupid they think everyone else is. I wouldn't expect anything different.PSN: JISTIC_OS

Re: Mitchell's report to reveal many names
If you had a strong commissioner like a Kenesaw Mountain Landis, or Bowie Kuhn then there would be some definite action but that's not the case because Selig still thinks and acts like an owner when the position demands an impartial and unbiased person to be running the show.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: Mitchell's report to reveal many names
I guess all this time I was kinda hoping it was 60-80 current players."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. Re: Mitchell's report to reveal many names
And here we go. I could see this coming from a mile away....
Congressional members anticipate details in Mitchell investigation
Congress might jump in if the Mitchell report doesn't give answers.
Baseball continues to be it's own worst enemy...
"Let me just say that they were deceitful,'' Shays, a Republican, said of the collective baseball group. "They weren't cooperative. And they were arrogant. And they were like, 'How dare you question us,' kind of attitude. And I want you to know I don't take offense at that. There are certain things as a member of Congress I don't like. But personally, I was just stunned by it because I haven't see worse behavior in anyone in my 20 years in public life in Congress.''PSN: JISTIC_OS

Re: Mitchell's report to reveal many names
I'm sure the players are just as nervous as the guys that take the paternity test on maury, and they will probably celebrate just as wildly when they find out they didn't get snitched on.

Re: Mitchell's report to reveal many names
Jistic i'm all for Congress stepping in if they institute a sports wide anti-drug monitoring body like WADA.
Speaking of WADA, Victor Conte is working with them and their outgoing head Dick Pound and giving them information about the drug use in the elite levels of sport.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club
