    Re: MVP Baseball hitting question

There are positives to seeing it off center. For one, it depicts the Lefty verses lefty disadvantage. This is because with a LH batter the camera will be slightly left and should be easier to hit RHP because you can see more arm action. Also, I like it because rather than looking at the pitch from the chest level you are more from the waist I think (at least as I remember) . I think this is a better plane for seeing the pitch.

The down way curve from Zito, you better aim outside, and if you try to hit it in the air, you probably wont hit it with any kind of pop. It sounds pretty sweet actually, because ifyou guess wrong and swing outside, you may break your bat or hit a nubber on an inside pitch.

Exactly...in real baseball, most people who try to pull an outside pitch will roll over the ball and hit a weak grounder. With a strict cursor system (like asb and wsb) you can set the cursor outside and pull the ball all day long which is very unrealistic. With MVP the subtleties of hitting (jam shots and rollovers are more likely to be portrayed)

Not only does off-center camera help this, it also will help you time the ball better (which is the basis of MVP's interface) because you won't just see the ball coming directly towards you, but with an angle. THis option is removable I believe though. When you are really batting you don't see the ball coming directly towards you anyways (unless you're getting a shot to the head)

well if you try to pull a gronder by pressing Left and Down on the analog on a high and outside pitch i'm pretty sure you are going to wiff even if your timing is right

I don't know about that. I don't think that MVP's interface is like HH's in the sense that it's zone based, and where you aim the analog is where you are swinging in the strike zone. If MVP is anything like Triple Play (no year, 2001) for PS1, you could press up for fly balls and down for grounders because there were no cursors. You could hit any pitch up and any pitch on the ground, but it depended on where the pitch was for you to get good wood on the ball.

If this is the case then Randy Johnson would get 0 k's when he pitches and like 20 pop fly/ground outs. Not very realistic to me but we'll have to wait and see.

If my understanding of the batting pitching interface in MVP is right there will be very few strike outs. All you have to do is time the pitch and make contact. There is no bat aiming and this is understandable because EA feels they have to dumb down a game to appeal to a large fan base. At least the other games will have a more realistic batting pitching interface.

i don't think it is all timing just most...i think sometimes if you try and hit a ball completely opposite of where it came from (i.e. a high outside pitch you try to hit down and inside) you will get bad wood on it and hit a dribbler or wiff completely the pitch speeds seem really fast too so it looks pretty good
