Which outfielders are you using, just out of curiousity. And what ratings in range and speed do you find make a good outfielder. I'm sure A's in both would be more than ideal but would you say a player would be better off with a say a C range with A speed, or A range with C speed?

I think Frank is more or less a stop gap until one of the kids is ready. Management isn't planning on contending for a while, no point spending big money yet. Frank is cheap, hits pretty well, versatile defensively (can play infield) and if he manages to stay healthy for a season may suprise.

I've got no real beefs about Frank, I guess I was just wishing that someone was ready now. At least in ASB if I don't want to wait 3 years for my team to develop I can just sim it.

Wes, Im using Darren Erdstat in CF and after a few sluggish performances in LF with Mondesi, I sat him and put in the speedier Delino DeShields which made a noticeable differnce....the funny thing is these actual ratings are for real and not just eye candy for the 'stat happy' I noticed that even speedy guys dont make up a solid outfield if there range and glove arent solid.........Erstadt is my most reliable and best performing OFer while DeShields has almost as much speed, he booted a few routine plays and bobbled a tricky short hop....which actually made me pretty happy with the differences in performances.

I love the attention to Defensive Ratings this game has shown me so far......Im actually thinking about replacing my SS, Ramon Martinez (? I forget if thats his name ) because his range sux and you can see it on balls hit to the hole. I may actually bring up REY ORDONEZ from the MINORS......yikes!

I can't wait to play a game that is that solid on defesive stats and hey when you bring up Rey at least you'll have your 9 spot filled it the batter order. I'm surprized that Mondesi is that poor, he has decent range, although he can be lazy from time to time.

rom what I recall, ( dont have game in front of me ) I didnt really have a problem with his immediate range....it was just that he was never in the vicinity to even attempt to make a great play! He moved like a snail out there.....( I yelled at him when he came back to the dugout after one play for showing no hustle )

Sounds like Raul, waiting back and relying on his arm, though on the odd occasion he can make some spectacular catches. I wish he tried hard all the time.

I have to agree with Smalls. You can TOTALLY tell the difference btwn fielders (especially outfielders). I couldnt hit anything past Estad when I played the Angels...and I also take notice of who's out there when Im considering baserunning. When you see Vlade Guerrero gunning out there....you play it conservative.
