Bedard for Adam Jones finally done

According to Rotoworld and the Seattle Times, Adam Jones is off to Baltimore for a physical tomorrow morning. Looks like Bavasi finally got his top-of-the-rotation starter in Bedard, to pair with young Felix. Sad to see young Adam go, however, he's quite a young talent. He'll look pretty good playing CF in Baltimore for the next several years!

There are other prospects headed Baltimore's way, but no word yet who they are.

I'm hoping they get Clement as well. If I'm going to be stuck watching the O's and Nats on MASN, I want some prospects to watch damnit!!!

I'm pretty pumped about this. I love Bedard, but it's time to move on.

Rumored deals are the following, with Adam Jones being the only real constant:

      Jones
      Chris Tillman
      George Sherrill
      Yung Chi Chen

      or

      Jones
      Tillman
      Carlos Triunfel

      or

      Jones
      Clement
      Tillman
      Sherrill

Nothing's really for sure yet, but I'm pumped.

I'm curious to see what we gave up for Bedard. I'm so scared that Adam Jones is going to turn into Ken Griffey Jr. without the injuries.

I'd rather have Triunfel personally. Dude hit .300 in High A ball as a 17 year old.

I'm so tired of seeing Aubrey Huff, Jay Gibbons, Kevin Millar though... they're so bad I can't even root against the O's when they bat. It takes the fun out of my complaining and I can't have that.

Well, if this is the case. I'm glad Billy began selling off parts of the A's. The West is going to be a dogfight this year between LAA and Seattle.

If this is the deal I'm done with the Mariners. Bill Bavasi might as well go into hiding, because he'd have a whole sh*tload of M's fans after him.

I'm struggling to think of a package that the Orioles would've accepted where Bavasi DIDN'T get hosed.

That's the problem when M's management gives Bavasi the ultimatum to win this year or else. He's just destroyed the M's future for 2 years of Erik Bedard in hopes of keeping his job. I love Bedard and think he is probably the most underrated pitcher in baseball, but the offense just took a huge hit and the defense took an even larger one. AND Bedard is almost guaranteed to leave via Free Agency at the end of his contract.

Who's going to play right field? Wlad is the only candidate that I can think of and he's not fit for Safeco as he's a strict pull hitter and below average fielder. The corner outfielders are likely Raul "Concrete Shoes" Ibanez and Wlad Balentien. :

Of all the names being thrown around the Jones, Sherrill, Clement, Tillman trade is my choice, but I doubt it happened. Clement isn't a catcher and he has a slow bat...IMO he's the easiest one to let go. Sherrill is a great reliever, but the bullpen is the easiest spot in all of baseball to replace. I really like what I hear of Tillman, I hate to see him go.

If Carlos Triunfel is gone I might have a mental breakdown. He's in no way, shape, or form guaranteed to make it to the bigs, but his ceiling is higher than Jones and Griffey...that's something I'd hate to see go for 2 years of one player. He's basically a mix of A-Rod and Tejada (in his prime on roids). Scouts say he does stuff at the plate they've never seen or even fathomed a 17 year old could do.

based on the O's history of developing talent... he'll be worse than griffey WITH the injuries. but i'm glad to see the o's front office trying something instead of staying with the status quo and signing 35 year old-past his prime-players.

i guess brian roberts is next.

According to the Seattle Post-Intelligencer the Mariners have had talks with Luis Gonzalez. It has been rumored in other places as well that if the Mariners traded Jones that they would likely sign Gonzalez.
